Thomas F. Solon
Thomas F. Solon (June 30, 1853 – January 8, 1923) was an American businessman and politician. Born in the town of Shield, Dodge County, Wisconsin, Solon went to public schools. He was in the real estate and carriage business. He was also in the general merchandise business and served as postmaster in the community of Richwood, Dodge county, Wisconsin. He helped start the Posey Creamery. In 1887 and in 1889, Solon served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and was a Democrat. The village, formerly known as White Birch was renamed in his honor. Shields is a town in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 554 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Richwood is located in the town. History The town was named after James Shields, a general during the Mexican War and a United States senator who represented the states of Illinois, Minnesota, and Missouri. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 27.0 square miles (69.8 km2), of which, 26.5 square miles (68.7 km2) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.2 km2) of it (1.67%) is water. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive.
