Thomas Dunne (Irish Politician)
Thomas Dunne (10 March 1926 – 3 August 1990) was an Irish Fine Gael politician and Teachta Dála (TD) for Tipperary North from 1961 to 1977. He was an unsuccessful candidate at the 1957 general election, but at the 1961 general election he defeated the Fianna Fáil TD Mary Ryan, and took his seat in the 17th Dáil. He was re-elected at the next three general elections, before losing his seat in the Fianna Fáil landslide at the 1977 general election to Michael Smith. Thomas Dunne (Lord Lieutenant)
Sir Thomas Raymond Dunne, (born 24 October 1933) was the Lord Lieutenant of Hereford and Worcester from 1977, then (after the historic counties were restored) from 1998 the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire until 2001 and the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire until 2008. Biography Sir Thomas was born in 1933, the son of Philip Russell Rendel Dunne, a military officer and politician. He was educated at Eton College and at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Hereford and Worcester in 1977, three years after the administrative counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire were merged to form Hereford and Worcester. In 1995, he was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. In 1998, Hereford and Worcester reverted to its original counties, and Sir Thomas became Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire and Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire. Tommy Dunne
Tomás Dunne (born 21 May 1974) is an Irish hurling coach and former player who is from Toomevara, County Tipperary in Ireland. He is the current coach of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Dunne enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Toomevara GAA club and at inter-county level with Tipperary. He was a midfielder on the latter team from 1993 until 2005 and collected one All-Ireland title as captain, two Munster titles, three National Hurling League titles and three All-Star awards. Immediately after retiring from inter-county and club activity, Dunne became involved in team management. He was a selector on the Tipperary minor team that captured the All-Ireland title in that grade in 2007. Dunne later served as coach, under the management of Ken Hogan, to the Tipperary under-21 team that captured the All-Ireland title in 2010. Thomas Dunne is an Irish radio broadcaster with Newstalk, and a singer/songwriter with the band Something Happens. Prior to joining Newstalk, Dunne worked on Today FM, presenting his very successful and hugely popular radio program, "Pet Sounds" which began airing in 1999. Dunne left Today FM to join Newstalk in August 2008. Tommy Dunne (1932 – 15 May 2015) was an Irish international footballer. An attack-minded wing half, capable of taking a firm grip on proceedings in the middle of the park, he began his senior career as an inside forward with Shamrock Rovers in 1951. However, when the Hoops won the league championship in 1953–54, Dunne was playing in the Leinster Senior League, although he had been kept on as a Rovers player. At the end of that season he left Milltown to join St Patricks Athletic. The son of Jimmy Dunne, who played for Arsenal in the 1930s, he helped St Pats take the league crown from Rovers in 1954–55, and helped them retain it the following year.
