Thomas Dulorme
Thomas Dulorme Cordero ( ; born January 29, 1990) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer who challenged for the WBO light welterweight title in 2015. Early life and amateur career Dulorme was born on the island of Saint Martin and lived there until the age of 3, when his family moved to Puerto Rico. His father is a native of Saint Martin, and his mother is of Puerto Rican descent. His family later briefly moved to the Dominican Republic before eventually settling back in Puerto Rico when he was 8 years old. He began boxing at an early age, winning Golden Gloves tournaments in Saint Martin, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. According to Dulorme, his amateur record was 140–2. Dulorme's younger brother, Starling Cordero, is also a boxer. Dulorme identifies himself as Puerto Rican, stating his desire to "represent Puerto Rico every time that esteps in a ring". Boxing Professional boxing In professional boxing, light welterweight is contested between the lightweight and welterweight divisions, in which boxers weigh above 61.2kg or 135 pounds and up to 63.5 kg or 140 pounds. Jessie Vargas (born May 10, 1989) is an American professional boxer. He is a former world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBA (Regular) and IBO super lightweight titles in 2014, and the WBO welterweight title in 2016. An interim championship is an alternate title that is awarded by the sanctioning bodies of professional boxing, and in other combat sports such as kickboxing, professional wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Occasionally, the champion of a particular weight division is temporarily unable to defend his championship because of medical, legal, or other reasons beyond the competitor's control. When this case occurs, two highly ranked contenders may fight for an interim championship of the same weight division – leading to two champions existing in the same weight division simultaneously.
