Thomas Cunningham (Canadian Politician)
Thomas Cunningham (April 12, 1837 – February 16, 1916) was an Irish-born merchant, farmer and political figure in British Columbia. He represented New Westminster City in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1889 to 1890. He was born in Ulster and was educated there. In 1853, he came to Kingston, Province of Canada. In 1859, Cunningham travelled to Victoria, Colony of Vancouver Island, following the discovery of gold in the province. The following spring, he travelled to Antler Creek in the Cariboo, Colony of British Columbia. In 1861, he moved to New Westminster, where he sold stoves and hardware. Nanaimo ( ) is a city on the east coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. As of the 2021 census, it had a population of 99,863, and it is known as "The Harbour City." The city was previously known as the "Hub City," which was attributed to its original layout design, whose streets radiated from the shoreline like the spokes of a wagon wheel, and to its central location on Vancouver Island. Cunningham Island is an island in the North Coast region of the Canadian province of British Columbia. To its west is Chatfield Island, to its south Denny Island, and to its east the mainland. William Norman Bole
William Norman Bole, (December 6, 1846 – April 7, 1923) was an Irish-born lawyer, judge and political figure in British Columbia. He represented New Westminster City in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1886 to 1889. He was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, the son of John Bole and Elizabeth Jane Argyle, and was educated in Dublin. In 1877, he arrived at San Francisco, en route to Queensland. Having missed his ship, Bole changed his plans and travelled to Victoria. He was called to the British Columbia bar the following year. Still planning to continue on to Australia eventually, Bole set up practice in New Westminster. In 1881, he married Florence Blanchard Coulthard. In 1884, Bole was named police magistrate for New Westminster. In the same year, he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the provincial assembly in a by-election. Jersey Cattle
The Jersey is a British breed of small dairy cattle from Jersey, in the British Channel Islands. It is one of three Channel Island cattle breeds, the others being the Alderney – now extinct – and the Guernsey. It is highly productive – cows may give over 10 times their own weight in milk per lactation; the milk is high in butterfat and has a characteristic yellowish tinge. The Jersey adapts well to various climates and environments, and unlike many breeds originating in temperate climates, these cows can tolerate heat very well. It has been exported to many countries of the world; in some of them, including Denmark, France, New Zealand, and the United States, it has developed into an independent breed.
