Thomas Croxton (British Colonel)
Thomas Croxton (March 8, 1822 – July 3, 1903) was a U.S. Representative from Virginia. Biography Born in Tappahannock, Virginia, Croxton attended primary school there and, later, the Tappahannock and Rappahannock Academies. He graduated from the law department of the University of Virginia at Charlottesville in 1842; admitted to the bar, he commenced practice in Tappahannock, Virginia. He served as attorney for the Commonwealth from 1852 to 1865, when he resigned. During the Civil War Croxton served on the staff of General George E. Pickett. Croxton was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1885 – March 3, 1887). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1886 to the Fiftieth Congress. After his failure to be reelected, he resumed the practice of law and engaged in agricultural pursuits. In 1892, Croxton was elected judge of Essex County, Virginia, and served from 1892 until his resignation in 1901. He died in Tappahannock, ... Essex County is a county located in the Middle Peninsula in the U.S. state of Virginia; the peninsula is bordered by the Rappahannock River on the north and King and Queen County on the south. Thomas Henry Bayly Browne
Thomas Henry Bayly Browne (February 8, 1844 – August 27, 1892) was a Virginia lawyer, Confederate veteran and two-term Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Virginia's 1st congressional district (1887–1891). Early and family life Browne was born in Drummondtown (renamed Accomac shortly after his death) in Accomack County on Virginia's Eastern Shore. His father was Dr. Peter Fielding Browne (1813-1880), and his mother, Sally Cropper Bayly (1813-1857), was likewise from an established planter family. He had a sister who died as an infant and an elder brother Orris Applethwaite Browne (1842-1898). Educated by private tutors, Browne later attended Hanover Academy and Bloomfield Academy, both in Virginia. Robert Murphy Mayo (April 28, 1836 – March 29, 1896) was a Virginia lawyer, Confederate States Army, Confederate officer and politician who served in the Virginia House of Delegates and briefly in the United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative as a member of the Readjuster Party.
