Thomas Crompton (died 1601)
Thomas Crompton (died 1601), was an English politician. Life Crompton was the second son of John Crompton of Prestall, Deane, Bolton, Lancashire and subsequently of London, and his wife Anne, daughter of Ralph Ashton of reat Lever Lancs. By 1580 Crompton was working as chirographer of the Court of Common Pleas, when he was granted permission to build a new Fines Office in the grounds of the Inner Temple. The buildings were erected in Middle Temple Lane and known as Crompton's Building and Crompton was granted admission to the Inner Temple. By 1589 he had become an agent for Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex. It was presumably to the Earl's influence that he owed his parliamentary seats for Steyning in 1589, Radnor in 1593 and for both Leominster and Beverley in 1597. In the latter case it is not recorded which constituency he represented. He made his will on 24 October 1601 and had died by 31 October, when John Chamberlain reported the death of "Crompton of the Fine Of ... Deane, Greater Manchester
Deane is an area of Bolton, in Greater Manchester, England. It is about south west of Bolton and northwest of the city of Manchester. Historically a part of Lancashire, the parish of Deane was one of eleven parishes within the hundred of Salford and covered roughly half of the present Metropolitan Borough of Bolton. The Church of St Mary on which the parish was centred was in the township of Rumworth. Radnor or New Radnor (also called the Radnor District of Boroughs or Radnor Boroughs, especially after 1832) was a constituency in Wales between 1542 and 1885; it elected one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliaments of England (1542–1707), Great Britain (1707–1800) and the United Kingdom (1801–1885), by the first past the post electoral system. Thomas Shirley
Sir Thomas Shirley (1564 – c. 1634) was an English soldier, adventurer and politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1584 and 1622. His financial difficulties drove him into privateering which culminated in his capture by the Turks and later imprisonment in the Tower of London. Family Thomas Shirley was the eldest son of Sir Thomas Shirley of Wiston House, Sussex, and Anne Kempe, the daughter of Sir Thomas Kempe (d. 7 March 1591) of Olantigh in Wye, Kent. Sir Anthony Shirley and Sir Robert Shirley were his younger brothers. Career Shirley matriculated at Hart Hall, Oxford in 1579, but left the university without taking a degree. In 1584 he was elected Member of Parliament for Steyning. He went on military service with his father and brother in the Low Countries in 1585, and later saw some in Ireland.
