Thomas Chung (poker Player)
Thomas Chung is an American poker player from Federal Way, Washington, who has won two bracelets at the World Series of Poker. Chung won his first bracelet in 1989 in the $2,000 Limit Hold'em event, winning a $212,000 cash prize in addition to the title. This was in his first cash in a WSOP event. He won his second bracelet in 1991 in the $5,000 Seven Card Stud event, winning $142,000. He also made the final table of the WSOP Main Event in 1993, which was won by Jim Bechtel. Seven Card Stud
Seven-card stud, also known as Seven-Toed Pete or Down-The-River is a variant of stud poker. Before the 2000s surge of popularity of Texas hold 'em, seven-card stud was the most widely played poker variant in home games across the United States, and in casinos in the eastern part of the country. Although seven-card stud isn't as common in casinos today, it is still played online. The game is commonly played with two to eight players, though eight may require special rules for the last cards dealt if no players fold. With experienced players who fold often, playing with nine players is possible. In casino play, it is common to use a small ante and bring-in. In home games, it is typical to use an ante only. Jim Bechtel
James Gary Bechtel (born 1952) is an American cotton farmer and poker player, now based in Gilbert, Arizona. He is best known for winning the 1993 Main Event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). At the time of his WSOP win, he lived in Coolidge, Arizona. Poker career World Series of Poker Bechtel began playing poker as a recreational player near his home in Arizona while working as a cotton farmer. He cashed for the first time in the World Series of Poker, coming close to winning a WSOP bracelet in 1979 when he finished runner-up to Perry Green in a $1,500 no limit Texas hold 'em event. The 1989 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was a series of poker tournaments held at Binion's Horseshoe. The 1989 Main Event was won by 24-year-old Phil Hellmuth, defeating defending champion Johnny Chan, and also breaking the record for being the youngest player to win the WSOP Main Event (a record previously set by Stu Ungar in 1980). Had Chan won, he would have tied Johnny Moss's record of three Main Event wins. This year also marked the first year in which Moss did not finish any WSOP tournaments inside the payout positions.
