Thomas Bruns
Thomas Bruns (born 7 January 1992) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Heracles Almelo. Club career Heracles Almelo Born in Wierden, Bruns is a product of the local youth academy (Dutch source), which since 2020 has developed into an equal venture between Heracles Almelo and FC Twente. Bruns left the Hengelo-based institute in 2011 to join Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo. A couple of months after joining the club, Bruns finally made his debut on 9 April 2011, in Heracles' 6–2 away victory against Willem II, replacing Everton in the 79th minute. The following season, Bruns scored his first league goal for Heracles, in their 4–2 home defeat against Heerenveen. After a couple of seasons at the club, Bruns finally became a regular in the starting eleven, during Heracles' 2014–15 campaign, making twenty-nine starts and netting seven times. Wierden (; Tweants: ''Wierdn'') is a town and a municipality in the eastern Netherlands, in the province of Overijssel. Willem II (), also known as Willem II Tilburg, is a Dutch football club based in Tilburg, Netherlands. They play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2021–22 season. The club was founded on 12 August 1896 as ''Tilburgia''. Johan Cruyff Shield
The Johan Cruyff Shield (, ) is a football trophy in the Netherlands named after Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff, also often referred to as the Dutch Super Cup. The winner is decided in one match only, played by the winner of the national football league, Eredivisie, and the winner of the national KNVB Cup. In the event of a team winning both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield will be contested between that team and the runner up in the national league. It began on 6 August 2010 with the first matches of the season and ended on 29 May 2011 with the last matches of the European competition and relegation playoffs. KNVB Cup
The KNVB Beker (; en, KNVB Cup), branded as the TOTO KNVB Beker for sponsorship reasons, is a competition in the Netherlands organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since 1898. It was based on the format of the English FA Cup. Outside the Netherlands, it is often referred to as the Dutch Cup. The tournament consists of all teams from the top four tiers of Dutch league football (Eredivisie, Eerste Divisie, Tweede Divisie and Derde Divisie), as well as the 24 semi-finalists (or replacements) of the six KNVB District Cups. The 2016–17 Eredivisie season was the 61st season of the top-tier Dutch League Eredivisie since its establishment in 1956. The fixtures for this season were announced on 14 June 2016. Teams A total of 18 teams took part in the league: The best fifteen teams from the 2015–16 season, two promotion/relegation playoff winners and the 2015–16 Eerste Divisie champions. Sparta Rotterdam, the champion of the 2015–16 Eerste Divisie, returned to the Eredivisie after spending six seasons in the Eerste Divisie, whereas play-off winner Go Ahead Eagles returned to the Eredivisie after just one season. They replaced relegated teams Cambuur and De Graafschap. As a result of financial maladministration, the KNVB had originally taken FC Twente's license, causing them to relegate to the 2016-17 Eerste Divisie.
