Tom Boyd (Australian Footballer)
Thomas Boyd (born 22 August 1995) is a former professional Australian rules footballer. He was selected with the first overall pick in the 2013 AFL draft by the Greater Western Sydney Giants, but was traded to the Western Bulldogs following the 2014 season. In 2016, he helped the Bulldogs win their first premiership since 1954. After struggling with injuries and mental health, Boyd announced his retirement from AFL football in May 2019. Early life Boyd attended Luther College in Croydon Hills, Victoria and played junior football for the Norwood Football Club. Playing for Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup from 2011 to 2013, Boyd was the competition's leading goal kicker in 2012 and later performed well for Vic Metro at the 2012 national carnival. Timothy Leslie Boyd (born 14 December 1952), better known as Tommy Boyd, is a British radio presenter. Television From 1977 to 1980, Boyd was co-presenter of the ITV children's magazine programme ''Magpie'' replacing Douglas Rae. In 1981, he presented ''What's Happening?'', a news quiz. He also presented the Saturday TV-am show ''Wide Awake Club'' from 1986–1990, and its Sunday spin-off ''WAC Extra'', throughout the 1980s. In 1982, he joined the cast of ''Jigsaw'', including Janet Ellis, Sylvester McCoy and David Rappaport. Boyd also hosted Children's BBC programme called ''Puzzle Trail''. Between 1982 and 1984, Boyd fronted Central Television's Saturday morning kids TV show '' The Saturday Show'' alongside Isla St Clair and followed this with '' Saturday Starship'' in 1985 (co-presented by Bonnie Langford). Thomas Boyd, Earl Of Arran
Thomas Boyd, Earl of Arran (died c. 1473) was a Scottish nobleman. Thomas was the son of Robert, 1st Lord Boyd, who was a regent during the minority of King James III of Scotland. His father was able to have Thomas created Earl of Arran and Baron Kilmarnock in the Peerage of Scotland, and arrange for Thomas' marriage to Princess Mary Stewart of Scotland, sister of King James III and daughter of King James II of Scotland, in 1467. The marriage was unpopular, especially after Lord Boyd and his brother, Sir Alexander Boyd, were later convicted of treason for abducting young James III, contriving the marriage of Thomas to Princess Mary Stewart (which was considered as an unforgivable insult by King James III), and establishing the regency. While Thomas Boyd and his father were out of the country, negotiating the cession of Orkney to Scotland and King James III's marriage to Margaret of Denmark, the regency was overthrown, and they were attainted for high treason in 1469. Thomas Alexander Boyd
Thomas Alexander Boyd (July 3, 1898 – January 27, 1935) was an American journalist and novelist, born in Defiance, Ohio. Boyd was raised by his mother's family due to his father's death before he was born. While still in school, he and a friend enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and saw service in France during World War I, where he was gassed in 1918. Upon discharge from the occupation forces in 1919, Boyd tried several occupations before becoming a writer for newspapers in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. He opened a bookstore, Kilmarnock Books, in St. Paul, which became the locus of literary figures, including Sinclair Lewis. He was urged to write and produced the 1923 novel '' Through the Wheat'', based in part on his own war experiences and set partly during the Battle of Belleau Wood. Boyd And Parker Ambush
The Boyd and Parker ambush was a minor military engagement in what is now Groveland, New York on September 13, 1779, during the American Revolutionary War. A scouting patrol of the Sullivan Expedition was ambushed by Loyalist soldiers led by Major John Butler and their Seneca allies led by Cornplanter and Little Beard. Background Native American raids in Upstate New York resulted in General George Washington sending Major General John Sullivan with several thousand soldiers into the Finger Lakes Region to displace the Seneca and Cayuga; destroy their villages, crops and food stores; and remove the threat to settlers. Prelude Butler and the Seneca war chiefs had roughly 800 men to defend Seneca territory including Butler's Rangers. Sullivan had marched from Easton, Pennsylvania to the Wyoming Valley, then ascended the Susquehanna River to its confluence with the Chemung River. Thomas Boyd (7 January 1888 – 29 November 1952) was an Irish-American professional golfer who played in the early-to-mid 20th century. His best U.S. Open finish was T20 in 1925 and his best PGA Championship effort came in 1921 when he finished T9. Early life Boyd was born on 7 January 1888 in Armagh in what is now Northern Ireland. Little is known of his early life although like contemporaries from his era he likely first started as a caddie and progressed to a career as a professional golfer from there. He also learned, as did almost all pro golfers in the early 20th century, to make golf clubs from scratch. Golf career Boyd emigrated to the United States in 1915. He served as the head professional of the Fox Hills Golf Club in Stapleton, New York. Boyd had several fine finishes in both the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. Thomas Boyd (born 24 November 1965) is a Scottish former professional footballer. He played for Motherwell, Chelsea and Celtic, and appeared 72 times for Scotland, which means he is a member of the Scottish FA International Roll of Honour. Thomas Elder Boyd (1802 – 12 October 1860) was a Scottish-born banker and politician in colonial Australia, member of the New South Wales Legislative Council in 1845. Boyd was born in Perth, Scotland, the son of James Boyd. In 1842, Boyd was the manager of the Melbourne branch of the Union Bank of Australia, in January 1854 he became manager of the Colonial Bank.
