Thomas And Mack Center
The Thomas & Mack Center is a multi-purpose arena located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada. It is home of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team of the Mountain West Conference. History The facility was first opened in the summer of 1983. The gala grand opening was held on December 16, 1983, featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Diana Ross. The facility hosts numerous events, such as concerts, music festivals, conventions and boxing cards. For ring events, the capacity is 19,522; for basketball, the capacity is 18,000. The facility is named after two prominent Nevada bankers, E. Parry Thomas and Jerome D. Mack, who donated the original funds for the feasibility and land studies. Paradise is an unincorporated town and census-designated place (CDP) in Clark County, Nevada, United States, adjacent to the city of Las Vegas. It was formed on December 8, 1950. The Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL) was a professional indoor soccer league that played from 1993 to 1997. The NBA Summer League, also known as the Las Vegas Summer League, is an off-season competition organized by the National Basketball Association. The Las Vegas Sin was a team in the Legends Football League, primarily based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Sin was originally announced in 2006 as one of four expansion teams to be included in the 2008 Lingerie Bowl along with the Atlanta Steam, Miami Caliente and San Francisco Seduction. The 2008 event was cancelled and the organization then launched the Lingerie Football League (LFL) in 2009. When the league began play in the 2009–10 season, the Sin were not included as one of the ten inaugural franchises. International Basketball League (1999–2001)
The International Basketball League (IBL) was a short-lived professional men's basketball league in the United States. The IBL was headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. The league started in 1999 and ended in 2001. History The International Basketball League was founded in early 1999 and made plans to begin play in fall of that year. The first season did not quite meet expectations with attendance, but the league was still largely functional, with the Saint Louis Swarm winning the first championship.
