Thomas Allan (politician)
Thomas Allan (1725–1798) was an Irish politician. Allan sat in the Irish House of Commons as the Member of Parliament for Killybegs between 1768 and 1776. In 1773 he was appointed Commissioner for Revenue in Ireland. He then represented Naas Naas ( ; ga, Nás na Ríogh or ) is the county town of County Kildare in Ireland. John Bourke, 2nd Earl Of Mayo
John Bourke, 2nd Earl of Mayo (; ; circa 1729 – 20 April 1792), styled Lord Naas (; ) until 1790, was an Irish politician and peer who was MP for Naas (1763–90). Career Bourke was the son of John Bourke, 1st Earl of Mayo and Mary Deane, daughter of Joseph Deane. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He sat in the Irish House of Commons as the Member of Parliament for Naas between 1763 and 1790. Hugh Carleton MRIA, 1st Viscount Carleton, PC (I), SL (11 September 1739 – 25 February 1826) was an Irish politician and judge. John Bourke, 1st Earl of Mayo (; ; circa 1705 – 1790), styled Lord Naas (; ) from 1775 to 1781 and Viscount Mayo from 1781 to 1785, was an Irish politician and peer who was MP for Naas (1727–60, 1768–72) and Old Leighlin (1760–68) and was created Earl of Mayo (1785). Early life He was the son of Richard Bourke and Catherine Minchin. He was descended from Gaelic nobles, and shared a common ancestor with Tibbot ne Long Bourke, 1st Viscount Mayo. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. Career In 1727, he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Naas, representing the seat in the Irish House of Commons until 1760. Between 1761 and 1768 he served as MP for Old Leighlin. He was re-elected for Naas in 1768, and held the seat until his elevation to the peerage in 1776. William Conyngham
William Burton Conyngham (1733 – 31 May 1796) was an Irish politician and improver. Life He was born William Burton, the second son of Francis Burton and Mary Conyngham, sister of Henry Conyngham, 1st Earl Conyngham. In 1781, his name was changed by Royal Licence to inherit the estates of his uncle. Conyngham was a longtime Member of Parliament. From 1761 to 1777 he represented Newtown Limavady, from 1776 to 1777 as well as from 1783 to 1790 Killybegs. Between 1776 and 1783 and again between 1790 and 1796, he sat in the Irish House of Commons for Ennis. Conyngham planned a settlement on the previously unpopulated island of Rutland, Ireland, having installed, from 1784, a street of residences and business premises, post office, school house and a fish landing and processing facility. The Irish House of Commons was the lower house of the Parliament of Ireland that existed from 1297 until 1800. The upper house was the House of Lords. The membership of the House of Commons was directly elected, but on a highly restrictive franchise, similar to the unreformed House of Commons in contemporary England and Great Britain. Catholics were disqualified from sitting in the Irish parliament from 1691, even though they comprised the vast majority of the Irish population. The Irish executive, known as the Dublin Castle administration, under the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, was not answerable to the House of Commons but to the British government. William Gerard Hamilton (28 January 172916 July 1796), was an English statesman and Irish politician, popularly known as "Single Speech Hamilton". Biography He was born in London, the son of William Hamilton, a Scottish bencher of Lincoln's Inn, and succeeded his father in 1754. He was educated at Winchester, Lincoln's Inn and Oriel College, Oxford. With his father's fortune he entered political life and became Member of Parliament for Petersfield in Hampshire. His maiden speech, delivered on 13 November 1755, during the debate on the address, which excited Walpole's admiration, is generally supposed to have been his only effort in the House of Commons.
