Thomas Alfred Spencer
Thomas Alfred Spencer (1 December 1860 - 10 June 1937) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Spencer was born at Barraba, New South Wales, the son of Charles Spencer, a Church of England clergyman and rector of Roma, and his wife Susan (née Dowling). He was educated at Roma State School and also received private tuition. He was the part-owner or owner of Redford, Dalmally, Foyle View and Morocco South stations. In 1898 he married Lily McPherson Gordon (died 1957) in Sydney and together had two sons and one daughter. Spencer died in Sydney in June 1937 as a result of an automobile accident which occurred several days earlier. His funeral proceeded from St Mark's Church of England, Darling Point to the Rookwood Cemetery. Electoral District Of Maranoa
Maranoa was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland. History Maranoa of the original sixteen electorates established in 1859. Geographically it was based on the Balonne River catchment area, including the towns of Roma and St George. Despite various redistributions over the years, the electorate remained in the same general vicinity until its abolition in 1949 when most of it was included in the resurrected Electoral district of Balonne. Darling Point is a harbourside eastern suburb of Sydney, Australia. It is 4 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district and is part of the local government area of Woollahra Council. Elections were held in the States and territories of Australia, Australian state of Queensland on 9 October 1920 to elect the 72 members of the state's Legislative Assembly of Queensland, Legislative Assembly. 1907 Queensland State Election
Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 18 May 1907 to elect the 72 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The election was the first one in which women had a right to vote. The election was the first held since Premier William Kidston, formerly of the Labour Party, had founded a new movement with his own supporters as well as the Parliamentary Conservatives. The end result of the election was an improvement in Kidston's position, although he was still in minority government with Labour support. The main opposition group was Robert Philp's Conservatives. The Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), commonly known as Queensland Labor or as just Labor inside Queensland, is the state branch of the Australian Labor Party in the state of Queensland. It has functioned in the state since the 1880s. History Trade unionists in Queensland had begun attempting to secure parliamentary representation as early as the mid-1880s. William McNaughton Galloway, the president of the Seamen's Union, mounted an unsuccessful campaign as an independent in an 1886 by-election. A Workers' Political Reform Association was founded to nominate candidates for the 1888 election, at which the Brisbane Trades and Labor Council endorsed six candidates.
