Thomas A. Hendrick
Thomas Augustine Hendrick (October 29, 1849 – November 29, 1909) was an American Catholic priest; he became the 22nd Bishop of Cebú, the first American to hold this position. Life Thomas Augustine Hendrick was born in Penn Yan, New York on October 29, 1849. He was ordained priest at St. Joseph's Seminary, Troy, New York, June 7, 1873, and spent 29 years in parish work in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester. When the reorganization of the Catholic Church in the Philippines was undertaken after the Spanish–American War, he was appointed Bishop of Cebú, and consecrated in Rome August 23, 1903. He took possession of his See on March 6, 1904. He died from cholera in Cebu on November 29, 1909, and was buried on the same day at the floor of the left wing of the Cebu Cathedral right beside the tomb of Bishop Romualdo Jimeno de Ballesteros. Penn Yan
Penn Yan is an incorporated village and the county seat of Yates County, New York, United States. The population was 5,159 at the 2010 census. It lies at the north end of the east branch of Keuka Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. Penn Yan, New York is home to one of the oldest mills in the United States, The Birkett Mills, founded in 1797. Early history The earliest English attempt at anything of the sort seems to have been a little ''Catholic Almanac'', which appeared for three or four years in the reign of James II (see The Month, vol. CXI, 1908). This was a mere calendar of feasts. ''The Irish Catholic Directory and Almanac'' seems to have existed under various names since 1837 or earlier. It was first called "A Complete Catholic Directory", and then, in 1846, "Battersby's Registry", from the name of the publisher.
