This Town (TV Series)
''This Town'' is a 2024 British six-part television series. Written and created for BBC One by Steven Knight and directed by Paul Whittington, the series follows a group of young people in the early 1980s in Birmingham and Coventry. The cast is led by Levi Brown, Jordan Bolger, Ben Rose, and Eve Austin. The series premiered on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on 31 March 2024. Synopsis ''This Town'' tells the story of an extended family and four young people who are drawn into an explosive and iconic music scene in the early 1980s. It is set across the streets of Coventry and Birmingham, and opens with rioting in both places. ''This Town'' tells the story of a band's formation against a backdrop of violence. Steven Knight
Steven Knight (born 1 April 1959) is a British screenwriter, film director and film producer. Knight wrote the screenplays for the films ''Closed Circuit'', '' Dirty Pretty Things'', and ''Eastern Promises'', and also wrote and directed the films '' Locke'' and ''Hummingbird'' (a.k.a. ''Redemption''). Knight is also one of three creators of ''Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'', a game show that has been remade and aired in around 160 countries worldwide, and has written for BBC's ''Commercial Breakdown'', '' The Detectives'', ''Peaky Blinders'', ''See'' and ''Taboo''. Early life and education Knight's father was a blacksmith. He attended The Streetly School (now The Streetly Academy) as a teenager, in Streetly, Walsall, in the West Midlands. Peter McDonald (actor)
Peter McDonald (born 28 January 1972) is an Irish stage and screen actor and director. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for his short film '' Pentecost''. Early life and education He grew up in Mount Merrion, County Dublin. He was educated at St. Michael's College, Dublin and graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Arts, English and a Master of Fine Arts, English in 1994. He got his start in theatre as part of UCD's Drama Society and was a member of the Fly by Night Theatre Company. Sekou (singer)
Sekou Sylla is a British singer from Leicestershire. He was nominated for the Brit Award for Rising Star in 2024. Early life From Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire, he attended Ashby School and Ivanhoe College. Career Described as having a rich and bottom-heavy baritone voice, Sekou was signed to ''Good Soldier Records'' at 16 years-old after posting songs of himself singing on platforms such as Tik Tok and Soundcloud. In 2022, he played in the BBC Music Introducing tent at the 2022 Glastonbury Festival after being handpicked to play by Arlo Parks.
