This Time – The First Four Years
''This Time – The First Four Years'' is the first official greatest hits album by British new wave group Culture Club, released by Virgin Records on 6 April 1987. Its release came one year after the band had split up. Overview The compilation exclusively includes, in its vinyl edition, Culture Club's most successful hits. The one track which was never available in single format is "Black Money" (originally on the band's second album, ''Colour by Numbers''), which was intended to be released to promote this collection, but never actually came out. The album includes a wide selection of tracks taken from all their albums (including more than half the tracks from the ''Colour by Numbers'' album), as well as the group's contribution to the '' Electric Dreams'' film soundtrack; "Love Is Love". Phil Pickett
Philip Stuart Pickett (born 19 November 1946) is an English songwriter, musician, vocal arranger, producer and artist manager. He is principally known as a songwriter and musician and for co-writing and recording "Karma Chameleon", one of the biggest hits of the 1980s era with Boy George and Culture Club during his tenure as keyboard player and backing vocalist for the group on every live performance throughout the world during the 1980s. Prior to this, Pickett co-founded hit-making pop band Sailor in 1973 which achieved considerable chart-topping success in the mid-1970s glam rock period. Roy Hay (musician)
Roy Ernest Hay (born 12 August 1961) is an English singer, songwriter, composer and musician. He is best known as the lead guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist of the Pop music, pop/New wave music, new wave band Culture Club. Hay, a trained pianist since the age of five, replaced founding member Johnny Suede in 1981. Some of Hay's musical influences were Stevie Wonder, The Isley Brothers and Led Zeppelin. Before his involvement with Culture Club, Hay was a hairdresser in his native Essex. It was during Culture Club's beginnings that Hay met Alison Green. The two married in 1982. According to the "Culture Club" episode the VH-1 series ''Behind the Music'', Hay assisted Boy George in giving up heroin. The singer suffered the painful drug withdrawal, withdrawal symptoms closely attended by Hay in his Essex home. Jon Moss
Jonathan Aubrey Moss (born 11 September 1957) is an English drummer, best known as a member of the 1980s pop group Culture Club. He has also played with other bands, including London, the Nips, the Damned and Adam and the Ants. Early life At Highgate School, Moss developed a fascination for sports, especially boxing, but he did not want a professional sporting career. It was also at Highgate that he formed his first band, Pig Williams, along with his friend Nick Feldman (who would later co-found Wang Chung). Together they performed at several school events. After finishing high school, Jon held various jobs, including working at his father's clothing store, as a cake salesman and as a sound engineer at Marquee Studios. "Karma Chameleon" is a song by English band Culture Club, featured on the group's 1983 album '' Colour by Numbers''. The single was released in the United Kingdom in September 1983 and became the second Culture Club single to reach the top of the UK singles chart, after " Do You Really Want to Hurt Me". "It's a Miracle" is the fifth and final single from new wave band Culture Club's 1983 '' Colour by Numbers'' album. The song became the group's sixth hit on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 4. It reached number 13 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and number 5 in Canada. The B-side of the 7-inch single is a live rendition of "Love Twist", a song from the group's first album.
