''This Road'' is the third studio album by Australian country musician James Blundell, which was released in April 1992 by EMI. The album debuted at number four on the ARIA Albums Chart and became Blundell's highest-charting album. It was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association for shipments of more than 70,000 copies. ''This Road'' provided three singles, a duet with James Reyne for their cover version of " Way Out West" (March 1992), the title track (June) and "Down on the Farm" (August). At the 1993 ARIA Music Awards, ''This Road'' was nominated for Best Country Album. At the 1993 Country Music Awards, it won Top Selling album of the Year. James Blundell (singer)
James Blundell (born 8 December 1964) is an Australian country music singer. Born in Stanthorpe, Queensland, Blundell first rose to prominence after being named "best new talent" at the 1987 Country Music Awards of Australia. Blundell has since released several albums in both Australia and the United States, with his most successful album '' This Road'' (released in 1992) selling more than 145,000 copies in Australia. Blundell was an unsuccessful candidate for the Senate in Queensland at the 2013 federal election, running for Katter's Australian Party. At the 2019 Country Music Awards of Australia, Blundell was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Early life Blundell was born in Queensland town of Stanthorpe, and was brought up on a sheep and cattle station near the town. The compact disc (CD) is a Digital media, digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. In August 1982, the first compact disc was manufactured. It was then released in October 1982 in Japan and branded as ''Compact Disc Digital Audio, Digital Audio Compact Disc''. The format was later adapted (as CD-ROM) for general-purpose data storage. Lawrence (Lawrie) Minson (born 13 September 1958) is an Australian country musician, best known as a session player. Career Minson is the son of former Australian radio personality John Minson. His country music career commenced in 1979 accompanying Buddy Williams on tour as a guitarist. Since then, Minson has performed as part of the Lee Kernaghan touring band and accompanied various other Australian acts. In 1989, Minson contributed "When the Rain Tumbles Down in July" and "Murrumbidgee Jack", as a tribute to Tex Morton, on an instrumental record album of Australian classics. He married Shelley Watts in 2008. Together, they have performed as a rockabilly duo. In 2012, Minson's debut as a headline act was at an Australian Italian club in Launceston, Tasmania. Kerryn William Tolhurst (born 1948) is an Australian country rock musician, songwriter and producer. He was based in the United States from late 1970s to the late 1990s, although he periodically returned to Australia. He was a founder of the Australian group, the Dingoes (1973–1979, 2009–present) and co-wrote their top 40 hit single, " Way Out West" (October 1973). It was covered by fellow Australians, James Blundell and James Reyne in 1991, which reached No. 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart. He also formed a short-lived group, Rattling Sabres, and wrote their single, " All Fired Up" (1987). Broderick Smith
Broderick Smith (born 17 February 1948) is an English-born Australian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and sometime actor. He was a member of 1970s bands Sundown, Carson and the Dingoes, 1980s Broderick Smith's Big Combo and he has recorded and performed solo and in duos. He acted on stage in the 1973 Australian version of the rock opera, ''Tommy'', and in minor roles in 1990s TV series, ''Blue Heelers'', '' Snowy River: The McGregor Saga'' and '' State Coroner''. Smith has been involved with the writing of some 200 songs and has run workshops on song writing, harmonica and vocals. "Way Out West" is the debut single by Australian band the Dingoes. It was released in October 1973 and peaked in the top 40 of the Australian Kent Music Report singles chart, NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988 reaching number 26 in Melbourne. The song became the band's signature tune.
