This Is Not Paradise
''This Is Not Paradise'' ( it, Qui non è il paradiso) is a 2000 Italian neo-noir film written and directed by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli and starring Fabrizio Gifuni. It is loosely based on actual events happened in Turin in 1996. It was nominated for two Silver Ribbons, for best screenplay and best original story. Plot Renato and his best friend Walter live two unsatisfied lives. The two decide that the only way they can ever change for the better is by robbing a postal van and escape to Costa Rica. Their plan would be perfect were it not for an especially determined police commissioner called Lucidi. Lucidi retraces Renato and Walter's steps and reconstructs Renato's miserable life bit by bit. Gianluca Maria Tavarelli
Gianluca Maria Tavarelli (born 27 September 1964) is an Italian director and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Turin, Tavarelli was self-taught, initially producing several Super 8 and 16 mm short films. After directing several commercials, shorts and television documentaries, he made his feature film debut in 1994 with '' Take Me Away'', which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and won the Grand Prix at the Annecy Film Festival. Riccardo Zinna
Riccardo Zinna (18 May 1958 – 20 September 2018) was an Italian actor and musician. Zinna studied under Augusto Perez at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli and at the Conservatorio "Licinio Refice". He began his acting career, which spanned four decades, in theatre in 1975. Zinna was also a guitarist, trumpeter, and composer. Zinna died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 60 on 20 September 2018. Zinna's funeral was held at the Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio in Naples. Adriano Pappalardo (born 25 March 1945) is an Italian singer, actor and television personality. Biography Born in Copertino, Lecce, Pappalardo started his career in 1971 with the song "Una donna". He obtained his first success in 1972 with the R'n'B single "E' ancora giorno", written as some of his other songs of the time by the couple Lucio Battisti- Mogol, which ranked second in the Italian hit parade. Fabrizio Gifuni (born 16 July 1966) is an Italian stage, film and television actor. He won two Silver Ribbons and a David di Donatello Award. Life and career Born in Rome, the son of the politician Gaetano, Gifuni enrolled at the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1992.
