This Is American Music
This is American Music (also known as TIAM) is an American independent record label that specializes in rock and Americana music, particularly by artists from the Southeastern United States. It was formed in 2011. History The idea for the label came from co-founder Corey Flegel's experience of going out on tour with Murfreesboro, Tennessee's Glossary for years, where he became fast friends with them and other bands in their circle (The Dexateens, Vulture Whale, The Only Sons, Duquette Johnston (Verbena) The Bohannons, etc.). Flegel came up with the idea in 2010 of creating a blog to post concert dates and other material about the group of bands. The website was called "This Is American Music", named after a tour some of the bands had undertaken a few years previously. The label was an offshoot of the blog, and began releasing records in 2011. Americana (also known as American roots music) is an amalgam of Music of the United States, American music formed by the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the musical ethos of the United States, specifically those sounds that are emerged from the Southern United States such as Folk music, folk, gospel music, gospel, blues, Country music, country, jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, Bluegrass music, bluegrass, and other external influences. Austin Lucas
Austin Lucas is an American indie artist best known for his own blend of folk punk. Early years Lucas grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, but moved to the Czech Republic in 2003. In 2008, he relocated back to the United States. He is the son of Bob Lucas, who is a producer/songwriter best known for his work with Alison Krauss. Lucas spent six years as a member of the Indiana University Children's Choir. Career Lucas was bassist and backing vocalist in the band Twenty Third Chapter from 1997 to 1999 and lead vocalist in Rune from 1998 to 2000. He was also involved with the band K10 Prospect as lead singer/guitarist from 2000 to 2004. He then played lead guitar in the Prague-based band Guided Cradle, starting in 2004. Cory Branan (born December 15, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter from Mississippi. Early life Branan was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to parents Dallas Lee Branan, a jet mechanic at FedEx, and Peggy Branan (née Rhodes). He grew up in Southaven, Mississippi, in the northwest corner of Mississippi, the third largest city in Mississippi and a suburb of Memphis. His family comes from Arkabutla, Mississippi. He grew up with musical influences from church, gospel music his dad listened to, and his family: his father played the drums, his grandfather played guitar and his great-grandfather played the violin.
