This Generation (Murs And Fashawn Album)
''This Generation'' is a collaboration album by American hip hop recording artists Murs and Fashawn, released on September 25, 2012 under Duck Down Music Inc. Production for the album was handled by the duo Beatnick & K-Salaam. Music videos were filmed for the singles "Slash Gordan", "This Generation", and "64 Impala". Background and development Prior to the album's creation, Murs and Fashawn would frequently bump into each other on the road, although they had never worked with each other. As Murs began to plan out a new project with producers Beatnick & K-Salaam, the three of them expressed interest in doing a full collaboration album with Fashawn. Initially, the album was going to be a double EP, with Murs taking half of the beats and Fashawn taking the other half. However, as the two began to work closely together, the project evolved into a more collaborative effort, with both artists vibing off each other's creative process. Nicholas Neil Carter (born March 16, 1978), better known by his stage name Murs, is an American rapping, rapper. His name is an acronym (or backronym) for which he himself has created multiple meanings, such as "Making the Universe Recognize and Submit" or "Making Underground Raw Shit." Murs is a former member of the rap group Living Legends (group), Living Legends, along with Luckyiam, Sunspot Jonz, The Grouch (rapper), The Grouch, Scarub, Eligh, Aesop, Bicasso and Arata. ''XXL'' is an American hip hop magazine, published by Townsquare Media, founded in 1997. History In August 1997, Harris Publications released the first issue of ''XXL''. It featured rappers Jay-Z and Master P on a double cover. In December 2006, ''XXL'' took over the struggling hip-hop producer and DJ magazine '' Scratch'' (another publication owned by Harris Publications), re-branding it as ''XXL Presents Scratch Magazine''. However ''Scratch'' shut down less than a year later in September 2007. Marvin Jones III (born July 9, 1976), also known as Krondon, is an American rapper and actor from Los Angeles, California. He is a member of the group Strong Arm Steady, along with rappers Phil Da Agony and Mitchy Slick. Okayplayer is an online hip-hop and alternative music website and community, described by ''Rolling Stone'' as a "tastemaker" and "an antidote to dull promotional Web sites used by most artists". The community was founded by The Roots' drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and author Angela Nissel as a loose musical collective in 1987, and evolved into an online community in 1999. In 2004, Questlove launched Okayplayer Records as a spin-off of the community, in partnership with Decon. After a near-decade hiatus, the label was rebooted in 2012 with Danny! as its flagship artist. Santiago Leyva (born October 19, 1988), known by his stage name Fashawn, is an American hip hop recording artist from Fresno, California.
