''Things We Do for Love'' is the sixth studio album by the Swedish new wave band The Sounds and was released in 2020 by Arnioki Records. Background With most of the band members having started families since the release of the previous studio album ''Weekend'' in 2013, The Sounds went into a hiatus of seven years. In 2017, they released an EP, ''The Tales That We Tell'', but were focused more on personal matters than on songwriting. Guitarist and keyboardist, Jesper Anderberg took a three-years break to study computer engineering. After the release of the EP, the band continued writing new tracks "and some of the songs that didn’t fit on the EP were saved for this album that we knew eventually was going to come out," said Anderberg. The Sounds
The Sounds are a Swedish indie rock band. Formed in Helsingborg in 1998, the group's musical style has been compared to new wave acts such as Blondie, The Cars, the Epoxies and Missing Persons. Their debut album, '' Living in America'', was released in 2002, with the follow-up '' Dying to Say This to You'' in 2006. ''Living in America'' is the debut album in English by Swedish new wave band The Sounds, produced in 2002 under the Warner Sweden record label. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry awarded the album a platinum certification in 2003, denoting sales in excess of 40,000 copies. The album received mixed to positive reviews, AllMusic writer Andy Kellman gave it 3/5 stars and wrote "But the thing you cannot take away from the members of this Swedish group is that they know how to write and play songs". Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. Ultravox
Ultravox (earlier styled as Ultravox!) were a British new wave band, formed in London in April 1974 as Tiger Lily. Between 1980 and 1986, they scored seven Top Ten albums and seventeen Top 40 singles in the UK, the most successful of which was their 1981 hit "Vienna". From 1974 until 1979, singer John Foxx was frontman and the main driving force behind Ultravox. Foxx left the band in March 1979 to embark on a solo career and, following his departure, Midge Ure officially took over as lead singer, guitarist and frontman on 1st November 1979 (despite writing and rehearsing with the band from April of that year) after he and keyboardist Billy Currie worked in the studio project Visage. ''Something to Die For'' is the fourth studio album by the Swedish new wave band The Sounds. Unlike their previous albums it is dominated by electronic music leaning towards house and synthpop and was completely produced by The Sounds. Background On January 6, 2011, the band announced that their next album would be titled ''Something To Die For'', and was scheduled to be released the week of March 29, 2011. Lead singer Maja Ivarsson has also been confirmed as appearing on pop punk band All Time Low's new album '' Dirty Work'' as a guest vocalist on the track "Guts". Maja Ivarsson
Maja Ivarsson (; born 2 October 1979) is a Swedish singer and lead vocalist of the Swedish indie rock band The Sounds. Career The Sounds formed in 1998 in Helsingborg, by childhood friends guitarist and vocalist Felix Rodriguez and bassist Johan Bengtsson, who later invited drummer Fredrik Nilsson on board. Maja Ivarsson met the group in high school when the guitarist Felix Rodriguez ended up in the same class. Due to Maja singing at school and her striking appearance Felix then proceeded to invite Maja to join the group under the condition that she would have to sing. Although Maja wasn't keen on singing, she decided to join the band. The last and youngest member to join the band was Jesper Anderberg.
