1984 24 Hours Of Le Mans
The 1984 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 52nd Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on 16 – 17 June 1984. It was also the third round of the 1984 World Endurance Championship. The works Rothmans Porsche team boycotted the 1984 Le Mans race due to a disagreement between Porsche and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) over the fuel regulations, meaning that drivers such as multiple winners Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell were absent from the race for the first time in many years. Nigel Smith (born 17 March 1951) is a British businessman and retired auto racing driver. Racing career His racing career started 1972 as a successful karting driver winning superkart grands prix in the Netherlands, Belgium and New Zealand. He made the switch to car racing in 1984, making appearances in Sports 2000 and Formula Ford. In 1990 and 1991 he was a front running driver in the Honda CRX Challenge. He privately entered a class B Ralt in the British Formula Three Championship in 1991 and 1992. In 1993 he competed in British Formula 2 with a Reynard 92D. He finished the season as the highest placed British driver with six podiums. In 1994 his Team HMSO Cavalier, entered a former Ecurie Ecosse Vauxhall Cavalier in the British Touring Car Championship. The 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 67th 24 Hours of Le Mans, and took place on 12 and 13 June 1999. The race had a large number of entries in the fastest Le Mans Prototype classes, with Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lola Cars, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Panoz, Riley & Scott, and Toyota all represented. Porsche 911 GT2
The Porsche 911 GT2 is a high-performance, track-focused sports car built by the German automobile manufacturer Porsche from 1993 to 2009, and then since 2010 as the GT2 RS. It is based on the 911 Turbo, and uses a similar twin-turbocharged engine, but features numerous upgrades, including engine enhancements, larger brakes, and stiffer suspension calibration. The GT2 is significantly lighter than the Turbo due to its use of rear-wheel-drive instead of all-wheel-drive system and the reduction or removal of interior components.
