Alfred Thibaudeau
Alfred Arthur Thibaudeau (December 1, 1860 – August 15, 1926) was a Canadian politician. Born in Quebec City, the son of Isidore Thibaudeau, a Quebec businessman and political figure in Upper Canada, Thibaudeau was educated at the Quebec High School. He was the head of the firm of Thibaudeau Brothers. He was the president of the Wholesale Dry-Goods Association, and was a member of Council of the Montreal Board of Trade. He was a director of the Notre Dame Hospital, Governor of Université Laval, director of the Great West Life Assurance Company, and of the Park & Island Railway Co. of Montreal. He was appointed to the Senate in August, 1896 on the advice of Wilfrid Laurier representing the senatorial division of De la Vallière, Quebec. Antoine Claire Thibaudeau
Antoine Claire, Comte Thibaudeau (23 March 17658 March 1854) was a French politician. Early life He was the son of Antoine de Thibaudeau (1739–1813), who was a lawyer of Poitiers and a deputy to the Estates-General of 1789. He was admitted to the bar in 1787, and in 1789 accompanied his father to the Estates-General at Versailles. When he returned to Poitiers in October he immediately set up a local revolutionary club, and in 1792 was returned as a deputy to the National Convention. Career Thibaudeau joined the party of the Mountain and voted for the death of Louis XVI unconditionally. Nevertheless, he incurred a certain amount of suspicion because he declined to join the Jacobin Club. In May 1793 he was on a special mission in the west and prevented his ''département'' from joining the Federalist movement. Colleen Thibaudeau (December 29, 1925 – February 6, 2012) was a Canadian poet and short-story writer. A graduate of the University of Toronto, she began writing poetry for a number of magazines under the pseudonym M. Morris in the 1950s to the 1960s before going to publish eight books during the 1960s to the 1990s. Joseph-Élie Thibaudeau (September 2, 1822 – January 5, 1878) was a Quebec businessman and political figure. He was born at Cap-Santé, Lower Canada in 1822 and became a merchant there. He was also justice of the peace and a captain in the militia. Thibaudeau was elected to represent Portneuf in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada in 1854 and 1857. He was president of the Executive Council and minister of agriculture in 1858. In 1863, he was named registrar for Portneuf County and served in that post until his death at Cap-Santé in 1878. Joseph-Rosaire Thibaudeau (October 1, 1837 – June 16, 1909) was a Quebec businessman and political figure. He was a Liberal member of the Senate of Canada for Rigaud division from 1878 to 1909. He was born at Cap-Santé, Lower Canada in 1837. Thibaudeau operated the Montreal branch of his older brother Isidore's company until 1895. In 1890, he was named sheriff for the city of Montreal. Thibaudeau Rinfret (June 22, 1879 – July 25, 1962) was a Canadian jurist and the ninth Chief Justice of Canada and Administrator of Canada in 1952. Early life Rinfret was born in Montreal in 1879, the son of François-Olivier Rinfret and Albina Pominville. He was the brother of Fernand Rinfret, Liberal politician who became Mayor of Montreal, and brother of Charles Rinfret, a prominent Montreal businessman. Professional career Rinfret studied law at the Université Laval à Montréal, Faculté de droit and McGill University and was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1901. He was appointed to the Quebec Superior Court in 1922 and to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1924. Rinfret became Chief Justice on January 8, 1944, and served until his retirement on June 22, 1954.
