"They Rage On" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer Dan Seals. It was released in February 1989 as the third and final single from his album '' Rage On''. It peaked at #5 on the ''Billboard'' country charts in June 1989, thus breaking his streak of number-one hits. It was his first single to miss the #1 spot since his early-1985 single "My Old Yellow Car", which peaked at #9. The song was written by Seals and Bob McDill. Music video The music video was directed by Neil Abramson. This video, in particular, played on the song's theme of the irony of small-town values with the depiction of an inter-racial relationship. Danny Wayland Seals (February 8, 1948 – March 25, 2009) was an American musician. The younger brother of Seals and Crofts member Jim Seals, he first gained fame as one half of the soft rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, who charted nine singles between 1976 and 1980, including the No. 2 Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 hit "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight". After the duo disbanded, Seals began a solo career, starting in soft rock before shifting to country music. Throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s, he released 16 studio albums and charted more than 20 singles on the country charts. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. ''RPM'' stood for "Records, Promotion, Music". The magazine's title varied over the years, including ''RPM Weekly'' and ''RPM Magazine''. The ''Knoxville News Sentinel, also known as Knox News,'' is a daily newspaper in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, owned by the Gannett Company. History The newspaper was formed in 1926 from the merger of two competing newspapers: ''The Knoxville News'' and ''The Knoxville Sentinel''. ''Rage On'' is the seventh studio album by American country music artist Dan Seals, released on June 29, 1988, by Capitol Records. The album charted at number 6 on the Top Country Albums chart, his second highest charting album since ''Won't Be Blue Anymore'' in 1985. The Singles released were "Addicted", "Big Wheels In The Moonlight", and "They Rage On"; the first two both went to Number One on Hot Country Songs and the title track peaked at number five on the same chart. Brian Mansfield gave the album four-and-a-half stars out of five in his review for Allmusic, saying that the songs were "woven around traditional country themes while rarely resorting to country clichés."
