Thestand4rd
Thestand4rd was a hip hop/R&B group based in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was formed by producer and rapper Bobby Raps, producer and rapper Allan Kingdom, singer Spooky Black, and producer Psymun. They were joined on-stage by DJ Tiiiiiiiiiip. The band started when Bobby Raps messaged Spooky Black on SoundCloud, and the two began to collaborate. Tiiiiiiiiiip introduced the duo to Psymun, and the three produced the song "Blind". Allan Kingdom joined the group shortly thereafter. Their self-titled debut album was produced with the help of Doc McKinney. The album was written and recorded over the course of a month at McKinney's studio in Toronto. ''Thestand4rd'' was released on SoundCloud in November 2014. They played their first live show that November, which kicked off an 8-stop tour. The group performed at Rock the Garden in 2015. Spooky Black
Corbin Beckner Smidzik (born February 20, 1998), better known as Corbin (previously known as Spooky Black and Lil Spook) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was a member of the hip hop/ R&B collective Thestand4rd. Career Smidzik gained popularity on the internet through a series of solo releases on the website SoundCloud. His first release ''Forest'' was put out in late 2013 and exhibited a hip hop sound with Smidzik rapping on every song, in contrast to his later and more recognized R&B-stylized singing. By 2014, Smidzik was gaining mass exposure with the help of SoundCloud and YouTube. The video for the song "Without You", from the mixtape ''Black Silk'' (released in February 2014), went viral, attaining more than a million views on video-sharing websites YouTube and WorldStarHipHop. Bobby Raps
Robert John Richardson (born December 22, 1992), better known by his stage name Bobby Raps, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He has been a member of Thestand4rd, Audio Perm, and Dequexatron X000. Early life Bobby Raps was born Robert John Richardson on December 22, 1992 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. While in high school, he started rapping and producing beats. He graduated from Saint Paul Central High School. Career In 2011, Bobby Raps released his debut mixtape, ''Gimme Daps''. In 2015, he released a collaborative EP with Corbin, titled ''Couch Potato''. Entirely produced by Bobby Raps, it features a guest appearance from Izell Pyramid. Allan Kyariga (born January 6, 1994), better known by his stage name Allan Kingdom, is a Canadian rapper and record producer based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was a member of Thestand4rd along with Bobby Raps, Corbin, and Psymun. He was featured on Kanye West's single " All Day". Early life Allan Kyariga was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to a South African father and a Tanzanian mother. In his youth, he moved to Wisconsin and eventually to Saint Paul, Minnesota. He studied at Woodbury High School, Creative Arts High School, and Minneapolis Institute of Production and Recording. Simon Christensen, better known by his stage name Psymun, is an American record producer based in Minnesota. He was a member of Thestand4rd alongside Allan Kingdom, Bobby Raps, and Corbin. Early life and education Christensen graduated from Saint Paul Central High School. He worked at a restaurant from the age of 14 to 23. DJ Tiiiiiiiiiip
Taylor Madrigal, known by the stage name DJ Tiiiiiiiiiip, is a Minneapolis, Minnesota based DJ and promoter. Tiiiiiiiiiip grew up in Minneapolis. His stage name is an alteration of his childhood nickname, Tip. In 2009, he became a founding member of rap collective Audio Perm. He produced beats for the group. He later formed half of the duo Biter Fighters with Unfuh Qwittable of Audio Perm. Tiiiiiiiiiip began DJing in 2010. He joined Thestand4rd on tour in 2014. Rock the Garden was an annual summer music festival organized by the Walker Art Center and Minnesota Public Radio held in Minneapolis, Minnesota that ran from 1998 - 2022. Soundset Music Festival
Soundset Music Festival was a hip-hop music festival held yearly in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area over Memorial Day, Memorial Day weekend. Since Soundset began in the Metrodome parking lot in 2008, attendance has grown from 12,000 to over 30,000 consistently since 2014. Over 280,000 fans have traveled from fifty U.S states, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and New Zealand to experience Soundset in Minnesota.
