Thesprotiko ( el, Θεσπρωτικό, "Thesprotian") is a village and a former municipality in the Preveza regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ziros, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 131.823 km2. Population 4,075 (2011). The village was known as Lelova (Λέλοβα) until April 1, 1927 when it adopted its current name. An independent community since 1919, Thesprotiko became a municipality in 1948. Rizovouni, Preveza
Rizovouni is a village of Epirus in the municipality of Ziros, Preveza, Ziros in the Preveza (regional unit), Preveza regional unit. Its oldest name, '''Podgoras' ''(until 1927), is of Slavic languages, Slavic origin (Pot goria se) and means at the foot, at the root of the mountain. The late modern "Rizovouni" attributes to the Greek content of the Slavic word. The village has an area of 131.823 sq.m. and a population of 5,653 inhabitants. The area is characterized as semi-mountainous. The climate is generally Mediterranean climate, Mediterranean type. Filippiada
Filippiada ( el, Φιλιππιάδα) is a small town and a former municipality in the Preveza regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ziros, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 142.409 km2. It has a population of 8,106 (2011 census). Geography The town of Filippiada is situated at the foot of low hills on the right bank of the river Louros. The northern part of the municipal unit is mountainous. Filippiada is northwest of Arta, northeast of Preveza and south of Ioannina. The Greek National Road 5 (Antirrio - Agrinio - Arta - Ioannina) passes through the town, and the Greek National Road 21 connects it with Preveza. Agios Dimitrios (Greek: Άγιος Δημήτριος) is a former municipality in the Ioannina regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Dodoni, of which it is a municipal unit. Population 4,566 (2011), its area is 231.473 km². The seat of the municipality was in Theriakisi. The largest village is Kato Mousiotitsa which has a school, gymnasium and lyceum. The municipal unit covers the northwestern part of the Xerovouni mountains. Preveza ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Πρέβεζας) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the Epirus region. Its capital is the town of Preveza. Geography The regional unit of Preveza is located northwest of the Ambracian Gulf. The Ionian Sea lies to the west. The terrain is mostly hilly. The mountains of Xerovouni are in the far northeast. Rivers include the Louros in the east, and Acheron in the north. Its climate is typically Mediterranean with hot dry summers and cool winters. Snow is not uncommon in winter at higher elevations. Louros
Louros ( el, Λούρος) is a town and a former municipality in the Preveza regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Preveza, of which it is a municipal unit. The seat of the municipality was the small town of Louros (pop. 1,938 in 2011). The area of the municipal unit is 176.075 km², with a population of 4,581 people (2011). The town and municipal unit are named after the river Louros which flows just south of the town. Until recently, the Louros valley was swampy, but in modern times the marshes were drained and are now used for the production of olives, oranges and tomatoes.
