Daniel Morris Cohen
Daniel Morris Cohen (6 July 1930 - 26 September 2016) was an American ichthyologist who was known for his studies on the taxonomy of Salmonidae, salmonid, Gadidae, gadid, and Ophidiiformes, ophidiform fishes. Cohen mainly studied the taxonomy of deep-sea fishes in the orders Salmoniformes, Gadiformes, and Ophidiformes. He held the post of professor of biology at the University of Florida for one year. He then took an appointment at the U.S. Bureau of Commercial Fisheries Ichthyological Laboratory in Washington, D.C. as a systematic zoologist. He stayed there for 23 years before moving to California to become the Chief Curator of Life Sciences at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. Cohen was the Deputy Director for Research and Collections when he retired in 1995. References

Richard Heinrich Rosenblatt (December 21, 1930 – October 14, 2014) was an American ichthyologogist. Rosenblatt was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1930, and died in San Diego, California in 2014. Rosenblatt was awarded the Frederick H. Stoye Award for undergraduate students in ichthyology by the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in 1956 and 1957. Galápagos Hotspot
The Galápagos hotspot is a volcanic hotspot in the East Pacific Ocean responsible for the creation of the Galápagos Islands as well as three major aseismic ridge systems, Carnegie, Cocos and Malpelo which are on two tectonic plates. The hotspot is located near the Equator on the Nazca Plate not far from the divergent plate boundary with the Cocos Plate. The tectonic setting of the hotspot is complicated by the Galapagos Triple Junction of the Nazca and Cocos plates with the Pacific Plate. The movement of the plates over the hotspot is determined not solely by the spreading along the ridge but also by the relative motion between the Pacific Plate and the Cocos and Nazca Plates. A hydrothermal vent is a fissure on the seabed from which geothermally heated water discharges. They are commonly found near volcanically active places, areas where tectonic plates are moving apart at mid-ocean ridges, ocean basins, and hotspots. Hydrothermal deposits are rocks and mineral ore deposits formed by the action of hydrothermal vents. Hydrothermal vents exist because the earth is both geologically active and has large amounts of water on its surface and within its crust. Under the sea, they may form features called black smokers or white smokers.
