Rotting Christ
Rotting Christ is a Greek black metal band formed in 1987. They are noted for being one of the first black metal bands within this region, as well as a premier act within the European underground metal scene. They are also responsible for creating the signature Greek black metal sound prevalent in the early 1990s. History Rotting Christ was founded in 1987 as a grindcore act. They released a series of demos and splits with local bands during their rehearsal era. During this period, the group gradually altered their sound with influence from proto-black metal bands like Celtic Frost and Venom, and in the process became one of the inaugurators of black metal. Their 1989 demo, ''Satanas Tedeum'', presented a crossover between black metal and grindcore. In 1991, the band released ''Passage to Arcturo'', their career-breaking EP. Black Metal
Black metal is an extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common traits include Tempo#Beats per minute, fast tempos, a Screaming (music)#Black metal, shrieking vocal style, heavily distorted Electric guitar, guitars played with tremolo picking, raw (Lo-fi music, lo-fi) recording, unconventional song structures, and an emphasis on atmosphere. Season Of Mist
Season of Mist is an independent record label and record distributor with subsidiaries in France and the United States. The record label was founded in 1996 by Michael S. Berberian in Marseille, France. From the start releasing black metal, pagan metal, and death metal records, the label moved on to releasing albums of avant-garde metal, gothic metal and punk bands as well. The label has two offices, one in Marseille, France and one in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Music From the beginning, Season of Mist focused on releasing more extreme metal records by stylistically diverse bands like Oxiplegatz, Bethzaida and Kampfar. Sakis Tolis
Athanasios "Sakis" Tolis ( el, Αθανάσιος "Σάκης" Τόλης; born 29 June 1972) is a Greek musician best known as the vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Rotting Christ. He is also known as Necromayhem. He has recently produced some of the band's albums and contributed as session keyboardist. Sakis has also provided guest vocals and guitars for a number of bands, for example providing guest backing vocals on the track ''Mocking Modesty'' on the Nightrage album '' Wearing a Martyr's Crown'' and additional vocals on Spanish North of South's single "''Just Fourteen Seconds''", taken from their "''The Tides in Our Veins''" album. He also played guitar in a black/death metal band Thou Art Lord, which features members from several other prominent Greek extreme metal groups, such as Necromantia and Septic Flesh. ''Sanctus Diavolos'' is the eighth full-length album by Greek extreme metal band Rotting Christ. It is also the first release after the departure of long-time guitarist Kostas and keyboardist George. The album features a guest appearance by Gus G. (Dream Evil, Firewind) on guitar, a live choir, and mainman Sakis Tolis handling synthesizers. It was recorded at SCA studios in Greece and mixed by Fredrik Nordström (Studio Fredman) in Sweden. Nightfall (band)
Nightfall is a Greek extreme metal band from Athens. Formed by vocalist/bassist Efthimis Karadimas in 1991, the group is currently signed to Season of Mist. They are widely considered the forerunners to a "mediterranean way to black metal" together with Inchiuvatu and Moonspell. History Nightfall was formed in 1991 by frontman and bassist Efthimis Karadimas. Within a few months of existence, Karadimas had produced Nightfall's one-and-only demo tape, Vanity. The 4 track demo was noticed by Holy Records, a new French record label that was looking for an act to use to help introduce itself to the music business worldwide.
