Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library
The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is a planned museum focused on the life and legacy of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States. It is to be constructed at a site to the west of Medora, North Dakota, near Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which preserves sites associated with Roosevelt's travel in North Dakota between 1883 and 1887. A site in the Badlands of Medora was selected in 2020, as well as the design architect Snøhetta and the architect of record JLG Architects. Design A site was selected in March 2020 from eleven candidates on land owned by the U.S. Forest Service, about west of Medora, near the Burning Hills Amphitheater, and close to the Medora entrance to the south unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Medora, North Dakota
Medora is a city in Billings County, North Dakota, Billings County, North Dakota, United States. The only municipal corporation, incorporated place in Billings County, it is also the county seat. Much of the surrounding area is part of either Little Missouri National Grassland or Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The population was 121 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Elkhorn Ranch
The Elkhorn Ranch was established by Theodore Roosevelt on the banks of the Little Missouri River 35 miles north of Medora, North Dakota in the summer of 1884. Roosevelt hired Bill SewallEdward Wiggin in his ''History of Aroostook'' (1886) tells that Wm. W. Sewall "has for years been a friend and companion of Theodore Roosevelt of New York, who formerly came to Island Falls every summer for a few weeks' outing. A few years ago Mr. Sewall went with Mr. Roosevelt to Dakota and for two years took charge of a large cattle ranch for that gentleman (p. 211). Bill Sewall was a son of Levi Sewall, one of the two first pioneers who settled Island Falls in the county of Aroostook in 1843. and Wilmot Dow, two Maine woodsmen, to run the ranch. The American Museum of Natural History (abbreviated as AMNH) is a natural history museum on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. ''Equestrian Statue of Theodore Roosevelt'' is a 1939 bronze sculpture by James Earle Fraser. It was located on public park land at the American Museum of Natural History, New York City. The equestrian statue depicts Theodore Roosevelt on horseback. Walking on either side of him are two men, on one side a Native American and on the other, a sub-Saharan African. The statue has provoked increasing criticism for its hierarchical implications, and there were calls to remove it beginning in 2017. On June 21, 2020, the Museum announced that it was asking city officials to remove the statue.
