Theodore Aranda
Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" Aranda (1934 – July 2022) was a Belize, Belizean politician and Garifuna people, Garifuna activist. Education and UDP career Aranda held an M.A. (1967) and a Ph.D. (1971) in Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He worked with the Belizean branch of the CARE (relief agency), CARE organization. In 1974, he joined the newly formed United Democratic Party (Belize), United Democratic Party and quickly rose up the ranks. In 1979, he was one of the 1979 Belizean legislative election, five representatives elected for the UDP, representing the Dangriga (Belize House constituency), Dangriga constituency. He was elected UDP leader as the previous leader, Dean Lindo, was defeated for re-election in the Fort George (Belize House constituency), Fort George constituency. The National Garifuna Council (NGC) of Belize is a non-governmental organization that represents the Garifuna people of Belize.
