Theodor Madsen
Hans Mathias Theodor Jacob Madsen (January 14, 1858 – November 5, 1935) was a Norwegians, Norwegian writer. Madsen debuted with the novel ''I Drift'' (In Operation) in 1890. Most of his works are written in the Naturalism (literature), Naturalist style. Madsen was the father of the sculptor Sofus Madsen and the brother of the opera singer Ina Madsen. Norwegians ( no, nordmenn) are a North Germanic ethnic group and nation native to Norway, where they form the vast majority of the population. They share a common culture and speak the Norwegian language. Norwegians are descended from the Norse of the Early Middle Ages who formed a unified Kingdom of Norway in the 9th century. Naturalism (literature)
Naturalism is a List of literary movements, literary movement beginning in the late nineteenth century, similar to literary realism in its rejection of Romanticism, but distinct in its embrace of determinism, detachment, Objectivity (science), scientific objectivism, and social commentary. Literary naturalism emphasizes observation and the scientific method in the fictional portrayal of reality. Naturalism includes detachment, in which the author maintains an impersonal tone and disinterested point of view; determinism, which is defined as the opposite of free will, in which a character's fate has been decided, even predeterminism, predetermined, by impersonal forces of nature beyond human control; and a sense that the universe itself is indifferent to human life. Sofus Madsen
Sofus Trygve Madsen (June 11, 1881 – January 19, 1977) was a Norwegians, Norwegian sculptor that has influenced the cityscape of Bergen with a total of 28 major and minor works. He was the son of the teacher and author Theodor Madsen. Life and work Madsen was born in Oslo, Kristiania (now Oslo), but his family moved to Bergen when he was three years old. He studied under the sculptor Ingebrigt Vik and mostly worked as a stucco artist at that time. Madsen received his artistic education at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and continued his education in Berlin and Paris before settling in Bergen in 1914. Together with Anders Svor he participated in the Art competitions at the 1924 Summer Olympics, 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris with two sculptures. Ina Madsen
Jacobine Susanne "Ina" Madsen (December 31, 1867 – August 19, 1935) was a Norwegian opera singer and voice teacher. Family Ina Madsen was the daughter of the shipowner Jacob Edvard Didrik Madsen and Susanne Sofie Clausen, and the sister of the writer Theodor Madsen. She married the architect Børge Rosenkilde ( 1869–1927). Her father died before she was baptized in Bergen. Life and work Madsen studied under Camilla Wiese and Julius Stockhausen. She received the state scholarships two times, was twice a recipient of the Henrichsen scholarship (established by Theodor Henrichsen), and studied in Paris under Pauline Viardot. She debuted on May 22, 1889 at the National Theater in Bergen in the role of Zerlina in Mozart's opera ''Don Giovanni''.
