Theatre And Performance Research Association
The Theatre and Performance Research Association, or TaPRA for short, is an academic organisation focusing on theatre, drama and performance. It was founded in 2005, largely in response to the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise, RAE [Research Assessment Exercise]. Academics from drama and theatre departments at University of Kent, Kent, University of Leeds, Leeds, Royal Holloway, University of London, Royal Holloway, University of Warwick, Warwick, Queen Mary University of London, QMUL, University of Birmingham, Birmingham, University of Manchester, Manchester, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham Trent, University of Bristol, Bristol, Central School of Speech and Drama, Lancaster University, Lancaster, University of Sheffield, Sheffield, University of Roehampton, Roehampton, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, University of Exeter, Exeter and Trinity College, Dublin formed the initial steering group. Theatre
Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of performing art that uses live performers, usually actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. The performers may communicate this experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music, and dance.
