The Two Kinds Of Righteousness
The two kinds of righteousness is a Lutheran paradigm (like the two kingdoms doctrine). It attempts to define man's identity in relation to God and to the rest of creation. The two kinds of righteousness is explicitly mentioned in Luther's 1518 sermon entitled "Two Kinds of Righteousness", in Luther's '' Commentary on the Epistle to the Galatians'' (1535), in his ''On the Bondage of the Will'', Melanchthon's Apology of the Augsburg Confession, and in the third article of the Formula of Concord. It is also the implicit presupposition governing Luther's On the Freedom of a Christian as well as other works. Righteousness
Righteousness is the quality or state of being morally correct and justifiable. It can be considered synonymous with "rightness" or being "upright". It can be found in Indian religions and Abrahamic traditions, among other religions, as a theological concept. For example, from various perspectives in Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism it is considered an attribute that implies that a person's actions are justified, and can have the connotation that the person has been "judged" or "reckoned" as leading a life that is pleasing to God. Franz Pieper
Franz August Otto Pieper (June 27, 1852 – June 3, 1931) was a Confessional Lutheran theologian who also served as the fourth president of what was known at that time as the German Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States (Missouri Synod). Pieper was born at Karwice, Sławno County, Karwitz, Pomerania, ( west of Danzig) and died in St. Louis, Missouri. After studying at the Gymnasium (school), gymnasium of Kolberg, Pomerania, he emigrated to the United States in 1870. He graduated from Northwestern College (Wisconsin), Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin, in 1872 and from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1875. Robert Kolb is professor emeritus of Systematic Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, and a world-renowned authority on Martin Luther and the history of the Reformation. The two kingdoms doctrine is a Protestant Christian doctrine that teaches that God is the ruler of the whole world and that he .
