The Wreckage (Ocean Park, Washington)
The Wreckage is a log house in Ocean Park, Washington, constructed of unhewn logs in 1912. The house was built by author Guy S. Allison on the Long Beach Peninsula as a beach house, using salvaged materials. Recovering driftwood from the Pacific Ocean, Allison also made what he called a "zoo" of driftwood animal shapes surrounding the house that appear on U.S. Geological Survey maps as "Wreckage Park Zoo." The collection was featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not! and ''Strange as it Seems''. Guy S. Allison Guy Selwin Allison was born near Hannibal, Missouri, on December 24, 1883. He arrived in Washington in 1906, attended the Washington State Normal School in Bellingham, and became a teacher and principal in Tacoma in 1907–1909. In 1911, he married his wife, Virginia, honeymooning on property in Ocean Park that he had purchased the same year. Candlelight Red
Candlelight Red is a rock band from Williamsport, Pennsylvania. They released two studio albums and an EP in the early 2010s. Their EP ''Demons'' and album ''Reclamation'' were produced by Morgan Rose of Sevendust Sevendust is an American rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1994 by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose and rhythm guitarist John Connolly. After their first demo, lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and lead guitarist Clint Lo .... The band took a break from touring in 2013, but when they began planning dates in 2014, vocalist Ryan Hoke announced he was leaving the band for a job opportunity "he felt he just could not pass up". CLR reunited in 2016 and performed several shows between May and December. The band has remained inactive since. Guitarist Jeremy Edge released a solo album in October 2020. ''The Wreckage'' is the sixth studio album by Will Hoge, released September 29, 2009 by Rykodisc. Critical reception Andrew Leahey of AllMusic says "he's rarely sounded as convincing as he does here, having suffered enough misery during the previous 12 months to make his blues-influenced songwriting all the more persuasive." Lizza Connor Bowen of ''American Songwriter'' writes, "Will Hoge’s aptly titled The Wreckage was born after the Nashville rock and roller was sidelined by an auto accident in 2008. With free time to recover and ruminate, Hoge bows a melodic collection with lyrics that lean more toward introspection than his previous work."
