The Worldly Madonna
''The Worldly Madonna'' is a 1922 American silent drama film directed by Harry Garson and starring Clara Kimball Young and William P. Carleton.. Plot A nun at the convent, Janet Trevor plans to save her sister Lucy, who's been framed for murder, by switching places with her. As she steps into the spotlight of the cabaret where her sister works, she discovers a possible victim: John McBride, a politician loved by both. Meanwhile, restaurant entrepreneur Allan Graves threatens McBride and accuses Janet, who mistakes her for Lucy, of having been a witness to the murder that John is accused of. Confessing to the crime is a hunchback named Ramez, but not until the deception of the girls is made public. Graves refuses this offer and accuses Lucy of being a drug addict. Though she confesses to the sin, she denies that neither she nor McBride were involved in the murder. Harry Garson (1882 – September 21, 1938) was an American film director and producer. He directed 29 films between 1920 and 1934, and produced 11 films before that. He was born in Rochester, New York and died in Los Angeles, California. Jean de Limur (13 November 1887, Vouhé, Charente-Maritime – 5 June 1976, Paris) was a French film director, actor and screenwriter. Milla Davenport
Milla Davenport (February 4, 1871 in Zurich – May 17, 1936) was an American stage and film actress who first appeared with the repertory company of her husband, actor Harry J. Davenport (1870-1929), for fifteen years. Davenport then began a career in motion pictures in the silent film ''Trapping the Bachelor'' (1916). She was in '' Daddy-Long-Legs'' (1919) with Mary Pickford, ''The Brat'' (1919) with Nazimova, '' Sins of the Fathers'' (1928) with Emil Jannings, and ''The Wedding Night'' (1935). Davenport continued to make movies well into the sound film era. Her last film credits are for roles in ''The Defense Rests'' (1934), ''Here Comes Cookie'' (1935), and an uncredited part in '' Human Cargo'' (1936). Davenport died in Los Angeles, California in 1936, aged 65. She was buried in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. George Hackathorne
George Hackathorne (February 13, 1896 – June 25, 1940) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1916 and 1939. Hackathorne was born and educated in Pendleton, Oregon. Despite his mother's wishes that he get a college education, he chose to be an actor. He began his career as a child actor in stock theater, after which he performed in vaudeville. He and his brother had a dramatic act that toured the United States. On June 25, 1940, Hackathorne died in Hollywood, California, at age 44. He was buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Sada Louise Cowan (1882–1943) was an American writer who began her career as a playwright. She soon switched to writing feature films and is best known for her work on the films ''Don't Change Your Husband'' and ''Why Change Your Wife?''. Cowan worked closely with director Cecil B. DeMille throughout her career. Early life Sada Louise Cowan was born on September 8, 1882 in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended a private boarding school in the Boston area. However, as a teenager Cowan moved to Germany to study music. After finding that writing music was not fulfilling enough for her she switched to writing plays. In Frankfurt, Germany she wrote her first hit play from start to finish in two hours titled, ''Sintram of Skagerrak''. Cowan's inspiration for writing this play was hearing Frederick Lamond’s piano recital of Chopin. She started to write plays that got her name on the map.
