The Wigs (British Band)
The Wigs are an American power pop band. Background The Wigs were formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by vocalist and guitarist Jim Cushinery with Bobby Tews on drums and Marty Ross on vocals and guitar. Bass guitarist Bob Pachner left the band shortly before the group's album was recorded. After regrouping on the West Coast in 1983, Val McCallum joined the group on bass guitar. The Wigs were later signed to CBS records. In 1986, Ross landed a part in the TV series the ''New Monkees''. With his departure, The Wigs became the band 57 Braves and the group eventually disbanded. Album The Wigs album ''File Under: Pop Vocal'' was a regional hit in the Midwest in 1981. The group's songs are mainly written by Cushinery and Ross. The album was released by the Streetwise label. Marty Ross (musician)
Marty Ross is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist who is best known for his role in the TV series the '' New Monkees'', as a member of the power pop band The Wigs and as a singer in 2018 through 2023 with the legendary west coast session players The Wrecking Crew. Biography Ross was born in Eugene, Oregon. His mother Margaret, born in England, was a folk singer, his father Gordon was a professor of history at Rockford College, now known as Rockford University. Ross became proficient at the tenor banjo by his 5th birthday and learned to play the guitar at 6 years old. He was influenced by his mother's folk harmonies and his Uncle Bob Fisher's (his mom's brother) sense of rock and roll. Valentine McCallum (born 10 October 1963) is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter. Career McCallum has toured with, and served as a studio musician for many well-known musicians. New Monkees
''New Monkees'' is the name of both an American pop rock music group and a 1987 syndicated television show featuring the group. Overview Background The 20th anniversary of ''The Monkees'' TV series in 1986 generated enough interest that ''New Monkees'', a full reboot of the earlier series with none of the original members of The Monkees involved, was conceived later that year, and launched the following year. Summerfest
Summerfest is an annual music festival held in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. First held in 1968, Summerfest is located at Henry Maier Festival Park, adjacent to Lake Michigan and Milwaukee's central business district.
