The Western Sizzlers
The Western Sizzlers are an American rock band established in 2013 by ex Georgia Satellites manager Kevin Jennings and guitarist/singer of the Satellites, Rick Richards. Jennings, along with Richards, enlisted the talents of Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke on guitar and vocals along with Steve Marriott's son Toby Marriott and Nicky Ford on guitars. Drummers in the band were Larue Riccio, Wayne Glass, and Kevin "Snit" Fitzpatrick. Jeff Bakos recorded and engineered their first album, "For Ol' Times Sake", which was released in May 2013 on the Roar Hide label; he also played bass on all tracks. Jennings subsequently secured a European deal with Proper Distribution (the UK's largest independent record distributor), and was added to JCPL Agency & Label UK's roster of acts. The Georgia Satellites
The Georgia Satellites are an American Southern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. They achieved mainstream success with their 1986 self-titled debut album, featuring their best-known single " Keep Your Hands to Yourself", which peaked at No. 2 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Two more albums followed – '' Open All Night'' (1988) and the band's last to feature original material '' In the Land of Salvation and Sin'' (1989) – before they went on hiatus in 1990. The Georgia Satellites resurfaced in 1993 and have since continued to perform live. Blackberry Smoke is an American rock band from Atlanta. The lineup consists of Charlie Starr (lead vocals, guitar), Richard Turner (bass, vocals), Brit Turner (drums), Paul Jackson (guitar, vocals), and Brandon Still (keyboards). In 2020, they added touring personnel Benji Shanks (guitar) and Preston Holcomb (percussion). They have released seven studio albums, two live albums and five extended plays. History Blackberry Smoke was formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000. They are the first independently-released artist to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Album charts in modern history. Steve Marriott
Stephen Peter Marriott (30 January 1947 – 20 April 1991) was an English guitarist, singer and songwriter. He co-founded and played in the rock bands Small Faces and Humble Pie, in a career spanning over two decades. Marriott was inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Small Faces. In Britain, Marriott became a popular, often-photographed mod style icon. Marriott was influenced by musicians such as: Miles Davis, Buddy Holly, Booker T & the MG's, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Muddy Waters and Bobby Bland. In his later life Marriott became distant with the music industry and turned away from major record labels, remaining in relative obscurity. He returned to his music roots, playing in pubs and clubs around London and Essex. Marriott died on 20 April 1991 when a fire, which was thought to have been caused by a cigarette, swept through his 16th-century home in Arkesden, Essex. Toby Marriott
Toby Marriott (born 20 February 1976, in Epping, Essex, England) is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the bands The Strays and Black Drummer. He is the only son of Steve Marriott who fronted the bands Small Faces, and Humble Pie in the 1960s and 1970s. Marriott spent his childhood in Sawbridgeworth, England, California, New York City and Atlanta. At age fourteen he was invited to start trials at several football clubs before moving to America. He was in a band called The Clinic from 1996 to 2000, who toured with several acts including Drivin N Cryin, and also caught the attention of 57 records CEO Brendan O'Brien. The band disbanded soon after. Following a three-year hiatus, Marriott moved to Los Angeles where he befriended bass player Dimitris Koutsiouris, and formed The Strays. Daniel John Baird (born December 12, 1953) is an American singer-songwriter, musician and producer. He is best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist from the 1980s rock band The Georgia Satellites. Baird formed The Georgia Satellites in 1980 and left the band in 1990 to pursue a solo career. He is often credited as one of the pioneers in cowpunk and alt-country music, which combines elements of rock music, country music, outlaw country, and punk rock. Mott The Hoople
Mott the Hoople were an English rock band formed in Herefordshire. Originally known as the Doc Thomas Group, the group changed their name after signing with Island Records in 1969. The band released albums throughout the early 1970s but failed to find commercial success. On the verge of breaking up, the band were encouraged by David Bowie to stay together. Bowie wrote the glam rock song "All the Young Dudes" for them, which became a huge commercial success in 1972. Bowie subsequently produced an album of the same name for them, which continued their success. Despite personnel changes, the band had further commercial success with ''Mott'' (1973) and ''The Hoople'' (1974). Mick Ralphs
Michael Geoffrey Ralphs (born 31 March 1944, Herefordshire) is an English musician, vocalist and songwriter, who was a founding member of rock bands Mott the Hoople and Bad Company. Career Ralphs began his career as a teenager, playing with blues-rock band the Buddies. He released a single with that group in 1964 before joining the Mod Doc Thomas Group in 1966. After an eponymous Italian album debut, the band changed its name twice, first to Silence in 1968 and then, in 1969, to Mott the Hoople. Ralphs remained with Mott until 1973. In 1973, he founded Bad Company along with vocalist Paul Rodgers from Free. Ian Hunter (singer)
Ian Hunter Patterson (born 3 June 1939) is an English singer-songwriter and musician who is best known as the lead singer of the English rock band Mott the Hoople, from its inception in 1969 to its dissolution in 1974, and at the time of its 2009, 2013, and 2019 reunions. Hunter was a musician and songwriter before joining Mott the Hoople, and continued in this vein after he left the band. He embarked on a solo career despite ill health and disillusionment with commercial success, and often worked in collaboration with Mick Ronson, David Bowie's sideman and arranger from ''The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'' period.
