''The Way to Salvation'' is the fourth studio album by experimental music band King Missile, released on April 16, 1991, by Atlantic Records. The band's previous drummer Steve Dansiger parted from the band before recording began and his position was filled by Hypnolovewheel drummer David Ramirez. Reception Ned Raggett of AllMusic said "''The Way to Salvation'' is enjoyable enough but lacks a final killer touch and "having Lou Giordano on production instead of Kramer is also a bit disconcerting -- he's a great producer, of course, but the crisp focus that he brings takes away from the warmer feel of Kramer's work on the earlier records." However, the critic said "much of the core fun that King Missile brings to the table stays intact: Hall's blissfully funny lyrics and shaggy-dog stories, the group's collective hops and skips through a variety of musical styles, and a generally upbeat vibe." King Missile
King Missile is an American avant-garde art rock band best known for its 1992 single "Detachable Penis". Vocalist John S. Hall has fronted several disparate incarnations of the group since founding it in 1986. History King Missile (Dog Fly Religion) In 1985, writer John S. Hall began presenting his work at open mic poetry readings. After three shows, Hall became a "featured" poet at the Backfence, a performance venue in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. Hypnolovewheel
Hypnolovewheel was an American indie rock band from Long Island. Despite positive critical reviews, the band's albums were never particularly successful, and they split in 1993. Band's members include Stephen Hunking (guitar and vocals) Dan Cuddy (bass and vocals), Peter Walsh (drums and vocals) David Ramirez (guitar and vocals). David Ramirez occasionally played with King Missile and later played with Dump. Current bands featuring members of Hypnolovewheel include The Special Pillow, Dew-Claw, Electrostim and XL Kings. Richard Meyers (rock Singer)
Richard Lester Meyers (born October 2, 1949), better known by his stage name Richard Hell, is an American singer, songwriter, bass guitarist and writer. Hell was in several important early punk rock bands, including Neon Boys, Television and The Heartbreakers, after which he formed Richard Hell & the Voidoids. Their 1977 album '' Blank Generation'' influenced many other punk bands. Ivan Julian (born June 26, 1955) is a guitarist, bassist and founding member of Richard Hell and the Voidoids and Lovelies. He has also performed with the Isley Brothers, The Clash, Matthew Sweet, The Bongos, Richard Barone, and Shriekback. "My Heart Is a Flower" is a song by avant-garde band King Missile. It was the only single from the band's 1991 album ''The Way to Salvation.'' Content In "My Heart Is a Flower," a pop rock track with elements of psychedelic rock, frontman John S. Hall repeatedly sings the titular phrase, recites a short monologue expanding on the heart-as-flower metaphor, then returns to singing the titular phrase as the music crescendoes.
