The Way I Spent The End Of The World
''The Way I Spent the End of the World'' ( ro, Cum mi-am petrecut sfârșitul lumii) is the feature-length film debut of Romanian director Cătălin Mitulescu. It was released on September 15, 2006. Synopsis The film is about 17-year-old Eva and 7-year-old Lilu, a sister and brother living in Bucharest during the final years of the communist regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu. After Eva is expelled from her high school for her uncooperative attitude, she is sent to a technical school where she meets Andrei, with whom she plans to escape communist Romania by swimming across the Danube into Yugoslavia and relocating to Italy. Lilu and his friends, meanwhile, volunteer for a children's choir scheduled to sing for Ceaușescu, hoping this will give them a chance to assassinate the dictator. Cătălin Mitulescu (; born 13 January 1972 in Bucharest) is a Romanian film director. He graduated from the Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest in 2001. He is best known for the short film ''Trafic (2004 film), Trafic'' (Romanian for "traffic"), which won him the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival and for the debut feature film, feature ''The Way I Spent the End of the World'' ( ro, Cum mi-am petrecut sfârşitul lumii), which was screened at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, 2006 festival. Mircea Diaconu (; born 24 December 1949) is a Romanian actor, writer, and politician. First appearing on stage in 1970, and on screen two years later, Diaconu pursued a lengthy career in both formats, working with a series of prominent directors. He acted in some sixty films through the 2000s, and continued to act in theatre during the ensuing decade. He took part in the Romanian Revolution of 1989. In 2008, he entered electoral politics, becoming a senator, and subsequently serving a term as a Member of the European Parliament. In 2019, he ran for president, placing fourth.
