The Watchmen (band)
The Watchmen are a Canadian rock band. They were one of the most commercially successful bands in Canada in the mid to late 1990s. During their peak years, the band had one platinum record ('' In the Trees'') and three more gold records (''McLaren Furnace Room'', ''Silent Radar'', and ''Slomotion''). The band has toured Canada a number of times, were the opening act for The Tragically Hip, and co-headlined a national tour with Big Wreck. History The Watchmen first came together in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1988. Founding members were Daniel Greaves, Joey Serlin, Sammy Kohn and Pete Loewen. After performing together for several years, they released an album, ''McLaren Furnace Room'', in 1992. In 1994, Loewen left the band and was replaced by Ken Tizzard. Fort York
Fort York (french: Fort-York) is an early 19th-century military fortification in the Fort York neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The fort was used to house members of the British and Canadian militaries, and to defend the entrance of the Toronto Harbour. The fort features stone-lined earthwork walls and eight historical buildings within them, including two blockhouses. The fort forms a part of Fort York National Historic Site, a site that includes the fort, Garrison Common, military cemeteries, and a visitor centre. The fort originated from a garrison established by John Graves Simcoe in 1793. Last Road Trip Download Series
''Last Road Trip'' was the farewell tour by The Watchmen in December 2003. In November 2003 the band decided to go their separate ways. However, they decided that before they did so, they would perform one last short tour across part of Canada as a "Thank You" to their fans. The tour was called "The Watchman's Last Road Trip" and included 9 concerts in 6 Canadian cities and 1 American city. As an extra special thank you to fans, the band released full soundboard recordings from each concert via download, first from their own site and then via Maple Music. The cost was $10.00 CDN per show. Among fans of the band, this has become known as the ''Last Road Trip Download Series''. ''Live Radar'' is a live EP by The Watchmen. Following the Canadian release of their fourth studio album, ''Silent Radar'' on March 31, 1998, the official album release party came as a live show by the band which was broadcast over the Internet on Thursday April 2, 1998. The webcast was a live show from the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. This concert was recorded and four songs were offered to those who purchased the ''Silent Radar'' CD. Included with the initial release of the CD was a white card which contained "CD Active" Instructions to the album's secret website. Attached to this card was a coupon which could be mailed back to the band and the sender would receive a free live EP in the mail called ''Live Radar''.
