The Village Doctor
''The Village Doctor'' (russian: Сельский врач, Selskiy vrach) is a 1951 Soviet drama film directed by Sergei Gerasimov. Plot A young doctor Tatyana Kazakova comes in a direction from Moscow to a small district hospital. Initially, the relationship between her and the head the old doctor Arseny Ivanovich does not add up. But gradually she manages to win the trust of the collective, the sick and gain respect from her senior colleague. Much has to be done together to raise rural health care to a new level. Sergei Gerasimov (film Director)
Sergei Appolinarievich Gerasimov (russian: Серге́й Апполина́риевич Гера́симов; 21 May 1906 – 26 November 1985) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter. The oldest film school in the world, the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), bears his name. Early life and education Gerasimov was born on 21 May 1906. Career Gerasimov started his film industry career as an actor in 1924. At first he appeared in Kozintsev and Trauberg films, such as ''The Overcoat'' and ''The New Babylon''. Later, he was commissioned to produce screen versions of the literary classics of socialist realism. Klara Mikhailovna Rumyanova (russian: link=no, Кла́ра Миха́йловна Румя́нова; 8 December 1929 – 18 September 2004) was a Soviet and Russian actress, voice actress and singer. She was active from 1951 to 1999. Valentina Petrovna Telegina (russian: Валенти́на Петро́вна Теле́гина; 1915 — 1979) was a Soviet and Russian actress. Biography Telegina was born on February 23, 1915, in Novocherkassk, capital of Don Cossacks (now the Rostov Oblast). In 1937, she graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Performing Arts, workshop of Sergei Gerasimov. Vsevolod Vasilyevich Sanayev (Все′волод Васи′льевич Сана′ев; 25 2, o.s.February 1912 in Tula, Russian Empire – 27 January 1996 in Moscow, Russia) was a Soviet film and stage actor popular in the 1960s–1970s. Nikolay Gavrilovich Smorchkov (russian: Николай Гаврилович Сморчков; 9 August 1930 – 7 March 2021) was a Soviet and Russian film actor. Biography Nikolay Smorchkov was born on 9 August 1930 in the village of Ivankovo, Gavrilovo-Posadsky District, in a large peasant family named Gavril Ivanovich and Pelageya Matveyevna. In 1933, fleeing Collectivization, the family moved to the village of Orgtrud, which was not far from Vladimir (now the district of the city). Being still in the 7th grade, the future actor caught a movie and decided to become a film actor.
