The Very Thought Of You (film)
''The Very Thought of You'' is a 1944 romantic drama film directed by Delmer Daves and starring Dennis Morgan, Eleanor Parker and Dane Clark. The screenplay focuses on a couple who knew each other when he was in college. They meet by chance, fall in love and marry while he is on a short Thanksgiving leave before starting special training. Except for the opening scene on Attu, the on-screen action stays on the homefront, showing how the years of war affect their lives and the lives of their friends, her troubled family, and others. Plot After three years at war, two of them in the Aleutian campaign and in “cold storage” on the island of Attu, Army Sergeants Dave (Dennis Morgan) and his buddy "Fixit" (Dane Clark) are sent back to the States. Delmer Daves
Delmer Lawrence Daves (July 24, 1904 – August 17, 1977) was an American screenwriter, film director and film producer. He worked in many genres, including film noir and warfare, but he is best known for his Western movies, especially '' Broken Arrow'' (1950), '' The Last Wagon'' (1956), '' 3:10 to Yuma'' (1957) and '' The Hanging Tree'' (1959). He was forced to work on studio-based films only after heart trouble in 1959 but one of these, '' A Summer Place'', was nevertheless a huge commercial success. Daves worked with some of the best known players of his time including established stars like Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Glenn Ford, James Stewart and Richard Widmark. Early life Andrea King was born Georgette André Barry on February 1, 1919, in Paris, France. At the age of two months, she and her American mother, Lovinia Belle Hart, moved to the United States. She lived with her grandmother in Cleveland, Ohio, and Palm Beach, Florida, for the first four years of her life while her mother attended Columbia University in New York City. Richard Erdman ( John Richard Erdmann; June 1, 1925 – March 16, 2019) was an American character actor and occasional film and television director. He appeared in more than 160 films and television productions between 1944 and 2017, mostly in supporting roles. He is most known for his roles in the classic films ''Stalag 17'' (1953) and ''Tora! John Alvin (born John Alvin Hoffstadt, October 24, 1917 – February 27, 2009) was an American film, stage and television actor. He appeared in over 25 films for Warner Brothers and numerous television and theater roles throughout his career, which spanned from the 1940s to the 1990s. Early life Alvin was born in Chicago on October 24, 1917. His father was a surgeon while his mother was a professional opera singer. He had one brother. Alvin began to pursue acting while in high school. He moved from Illinois to California in 1939 in order to study at the Pasadena Playhouse. He met his future wife, June Lewis, while studying at the playhouse. They married in 1947 and remained together until his death in 2009.
