''The Veronicas'' is the third studio album by Australian duo The Veronicas. It was issued on 21 November 2014 as their first release with Sony Music Australia following their departure from former label Warner Bros. Records. The album comes seven years after their second record '' Hook Me Up'' (2007). While they were with Warner Bros. Records, the album was to be issued under the title ''Life on Mars'' with a 2012 release date before it was pushed back and eventually shelved. ''The Veronicas'', which was produced from 2010-2014, features collaborations with Butch Vig, Nellee Hooper, Daniel Johns and long time collaborator Toby Gad. The music on the album slightly differs from their previous pop rock/electronic rock albums, featuring a "progressive pop" sound, drawing inspiration from numerous genres such as blues, dubstep, trip hop, rock and roll, soul, EDM, folk, grunge and rap. The Veronicas
The Veronicas is an Australian pop duo from Brisbane. The group was formed in 2004 by identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso. In 2005, the Veronicas released their debut studio album, titled '' The Secret Life of...'', which peaked at number two on the Australian Album Chart and was certified 4× platinum by Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for selling over 280,000 copies. The album spawned five singles, led by " 4ever", three of which were top ten singles in Australia. Hook Me Up (song)
"Hook Me Up" is a song by Australian musical duo the Veronicas for their second album of the same name (2007). Produced by Greg Wells and Engineered by Drew Pearson, it was released as the album's lead single on 18 August 2007 as a digital download. The down-tempo, electropop-dance song, is a change in direction from the pop rock sound from their previous album, '' The Secret Life Of...'' (2005). It was written by the Veronicas' twin sisters, Jessica Origliasso and Lisa Origliasso, together with Shelly Peiken and Wells. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Like these genres, grunge typically uses electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Grunge also incorporates influences from indie rock bands such as Sonic Youth. Contemporary folk music refers to a wide variety of genres that emerged in the mid 20th century and afterwards which were associated with traditional folk music.
