The Valley Of The Giants (1927 Film)
''The Valley of the Giants'' is a 1927 silent film adventure directed by Charles Brabin and starring Milton Sills and Doris Kenyon who were real-life man and wife. It was based on novelby Peter B. Kyne. First National produced and distributed the film having gained the screen rights to the story from Famous Players-Lasky and Paramount. Paramount had made a version of the novel in 1919 with Wallace Reid, and it would again be filmed in 1938. A copy of this film survives at the UCLA Film and Television Archive. It is also listed as existing in an incomplete print at the Library of Congress. A 16mm copy is housed at the Wisconsin Center for Film & Theater Research. Charles Brabin
Charles Brabin (April 17, 1882 – November 3, 1957) was a British-American film director. Biography Born in Liverpool, England, he was educated at St. Francis Xavier College. Brabin sailed to New York City in the early 1900s and, while holding down odd jobs there, he tried his hand as a stage actor. He joined the Edison Manufacturing Company around 1908, first acting, later writing and directing. He was active during the silent era, then pursued a short-lived career in talkies. His last film was ''A Wicked Woman'' for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1934. Brabin married his first wife socialite Suzan "Susette" Jeanette Mosher, the daughter of Edwin Howard Mosher and Jennie Slater Mosher of New York City. They wed December 14, 1913, at Bedford Congregational Church in the Bronx, shortly after Brabin returned from a trip to England and Europe. Lucien Littlefield
Lucien Littlefield (August 16, 1895 – June 4, 1960) was an American actor who achieved a long career from silent films to the television era. He was noted for his versatility, playing a wide range of roles and already portraying old men before he was of voting age. Life and career Lucien Littlefield was born in San Antonio, Texas and attended Staunton Military Academy. He started his movie career in 1913 and worked as an actor until his death in 1960. He usually portrayed comedic supporting characters, often much older than himself. His role of the doctor in '' The Cat and the Canary'' (1927) is one of his more notable performances. Otto F. Hoffman (May 2, 1879 – June 23, 1944) was an American film actor. He appeared in almost 200 films between 1915 and 1944. He was born in New York City and died in Los Angeles, California, from lung cancer. Hoffman's Broadway credits include ''The Strange Woman'' (1913), ''The Spring Maid'' (1910), and ''A Broken Idol'' (1909). He was also active in stock theater productions. Erville Alderson
Erville Alderson (September 11, 1882 – August 4, 1957) was an American character actor, usually portraying strong-willed or wise men. He appeared in nearly 200 films between 1918 and 1957. Life Alderson was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He married Lillian Worth, an American actress, on January 14, 1918 in Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. By 1925, the couple were divorced. Alderson's work in films included portraying Jefferson Davis as a young Army officer in ''Santa Fe Trail'' (1940). Alderson died in Glendale, California. Charles A. Sellon (August 24, 1870 – June 26, 1937) was an American stage and film actor. Sellon appeared in more than 100 films and stage acts between 1901 and 1935. He played the blind Mr. Muckle in W. C. Fields' comedy ''It's a Gift'' (1934) and the wheelchair-using uncle in '' Bright Eyes'' (1934) with Shirley Temple.
