The Two Sergeants (1951 Film)
''The Two Sergeants'' (Italian:''I Due sergenti'') is a 1951 Italian comedy film directed by Carlo Alberto Chiesa and starring Mario Carotenuto, Antonella Lualdi and Beniamino Maggio. It is one of several film adaptations of the 1823 play '' The Two Sergeants''. The film updated the historic story of two idlers who steal some military uniforms and become mistaken for real soldiers. Carlo Alberto Chiesa (1922–1960) was an Italian screenwriter, film editor and director. In 1945 he edited Luchino Visconti's docu-drama '' Days of Glory''.Bacon, Henry. Marisa Merlini (6 August 1923 – 27 July 2008) was an Italian character actress active in Italy's post-World War II cinema. Merlini appeared in over fifty films during her career, which spanned from World War II to 2005. Guglielmo Barnabò (11 May 1888 – 31 May 1954) was an Italian stage and film actor. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1926 and 1954. Life and career Born in Ancona, Barnabò made his stage debut in 1921 at the Greek Theatre of Syracuse, with the Annibale Ninchi's company.
