The Two Orphans (1947 Film)
''The Two Orphans'' ( it, I Due Orfanelli) is a 1947 Italian comedy film directed by Mario Mattoli and starring Totò. It is based on the 1874 play of the same title by Adolphe d'Ennery and Eugène Cormon. Plot The story is set in Paris in the middle of the 19th century. Caspar (Totò) and the Baptist (Campanini) are two poor homeless staying in an orphanage, not knowing where to stay. One day the two orphans are called by the director to solve a very special case: Susanne, a girl from the orphanage would like to marry a rich young but his father is against it because he does not know anything about the origins of his girlfriend. So Gasparre has the bright idea to cut a lock of hair to swap it with that of Susanne and so the father of the rich man discovers that the owner of the hair is of noble origins and thus a relative. The Two Orphans (play)
''The Two Orphans'' (French:''Les Deux orphelines'') is a historical play by the French writers Adolphe d'Ennery and Eugène Cormon. It premiered on 20 January 1874 at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris. A melodrama set during the French Revolution, it takes place in five acts. In the United States The play as translated by N. Hart Jackson into English debuted in the United States at A.M. Palmer's Union Square Theatre on December 21, 1874, played for 180 performances, and eventually proved to be one of most performed melodramas in the country for the next few decades. Odell's ''Annals of the New York Stage'' called it "one of the greatest theatrical successes of all time in America." Galeazzo Benti
Galeazzo Benti (6 August 1923 – 21 April 1993) was an Italian actor. He appeared in more than 70 films between 1942 and 1991. Life and career Born Galeazzo Bentivoglio in Florence, Italy, a descendant of the Bentivoglio family, which ruled Bologna from 1401 until 1506 and from 1511 until 1512, he started his career as a cartoonist and a set designer. After his first roles in 1942, he had his breakout in 1943, in Sergio Tofano's ''Gian Burrasca'', in which he played a frivolous and falsely modest snob, a role he specialized during his career. After successfully alternating between cinema and revue, in the late 1950s he moved to Venezuela, where he worked in a television channel dedicated to Italian immigrants. He came back to Italy in the early 1980s, and here he reprised his acting career equally splitting between films and TV-series until his death from a heart attack in 1993. Vera Bergman
Vera Bergman (16 February 1920 – 1971) was a German stage and film actress known for her roles in Italian films. Bergman died in 1971. Biography Vera Bergmann was the daughter of Dutch diplomat Carl Bergman. Her mother was of Austrian descent. She attended an acting school under the direction of Max Reinhardt after her studies in The Hague. A guillotine is an apparatus designed for efficiently carrying out executions by beheading. The device consists of a tall, upright frame with a weighted and angled blade suspended at the top. The condemned person is secured with stocks at the bottom of the frame, positioning the neck directly below the blade. The blade is then released, swiftly and forcefully decapitating the victim with a single, clean pass so that the head falls into a basket or other receptacle below.
