The Tune Wranglers
The Tune Wranglers were a Western swing band from San Antonio, Texas, popular in the 1930s. The group formed in 1935, and its original membership included Buster Coward (vocals, guitar), Eddie Fielding (banjo), and Charlie Gregg (vocals, fiddle). Fielding was replaced by Joe Barnes (known as Red Brown) soon after, and around 1936 Eddie Duncan joined on steel guitar. Fiddler Leonard Seago and Noah Hatley also played with the group for a short period. They played most often in Texas and Mexico, where they received airplay on border radio stations such as WOAI and KTSA. From 1936 they recorded for Bluebird Records, both under their own name in English and under the name Tono Hombres in Spanish. In total, they recorded about 80 tunes, including a session of Hawaiian-style songs with banjoist/reeds twins Neal & Beal. Western swing music is a subgenre of American country music that originated in the late 1920s in the Western United States, West and Southern United States, South among the region's Western music (North America), Western string bands. KTSA (550 AM "107.1 and 550 KTSA") is a commercial radio station in San Antonio, Texas. KTSA is owned by Alpha Media and airs a talk radio format. The studios, offices and three-tower transmitter are on Eisenhauer Road in San Antonio. Most hours begin with world and national news from ABC News Radio. Weekdays feature mostly local talk hosts by day, with some syndicated shows in afternoons and nights, including Dave Ramsey, Lars Larson, Dana Loesch and Red Eye Radio. Weekends include programs on money, health, home repair, cars, gardening and pets. Some weekend shows are paid brokered programming. Eugene Chadbourne
Eugene Chadbourne (born January 4, 1954) is an American banjoist, guitarist and music critic. Life and career Chadbourne was born in Mount Vernon, New York, but grew up in Boulder, Colorado. He started playing guitar when he was eleven or twelve, inspired by the Beatles and hoping to get the attention of girls. Although he was drawn to Jimi Hendrix and played in a garage band, he found rock and pop music too conventional. He gravitated to the avant-garde jazz of Anthony Braxton and Derek Bailey. Braxton persuaded Chadbourne to abandon his intention to enter journalism and instead pursue music. During the early 1970s, he lived in Canada to avoid military service in the Vietnam War. Returning to the United States, he moved to New York City in the mid 1970s and played free improvisation with Henry Kaiser and John Zorn. Bluebird Records is a record label best known for its low-cost releases, primarily of kids' music, blues and jazz in the 1930s and 1940s. It was founded in 1932 as a lower-priced RCA Victor subsidiary label of RCA Victor. Bluebird became known for what came to be known as the "Bluebird sound", which influenced rhythm and blues and early rock and roll. It is currently owned by parent company Sony Music Entertainment. WOAI (1200 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in San Antonio, Texas, which airs a news/talk format. It is owned and operated by locally based iHeartMedia, Inc., and is that company's flagship station. Studios are located in the Stone Oak neighborhood in Far North San Antonio. Its non-directional antenna transmitter site is off Santa Clara Road in Zuehl, Texas. WOAI promotion refers to the station as the "50,000 Watt Blowtorch" of South Texas. It is a Class A clear-channel station, broadcasting fulltime at the U.S. maximum power of 50,000 watts.
