The Toy Tiger
''The Toy Tiger'' is a 1956 American comedy film directed by Jerry Hopper and starring Laraine Day and Jeff Chandler. It is a remake of ''Mad About Music'' (1938). Plot New York City advertising executive Gwen Harkinson is a widow with a son, Timmy, who lives full-time in an upstate boarding school. She sends art director Rick Todd in that direction to try to rehire Mike Wyman, a former creative talent for the ad agency who has given up that life to become a sculptor. At school, Timmy has been lying to classmates that his father is not only alive but a famous big-game hunter and explorer. Many doubt him. Timmy compounds his tall tale by insisting his father's on his way for a visit this very minute. When he sees Rick arrive in town, he pretends that's his Dad. Jerry Hopper
Harold Hankins Hopper (July 29, 1907 – December 17, 1988), known professionally as Jerry Hopper, was an American film and television director, active from the mid-1940s through the early 1970s. Early life Jerry Hopper was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Career He was an editor at Paramount Pictures before moving to the directors' chair for several installments of their Musical Parade series (1946–48). Hopper went on to direct feature films, such as, ''The Atomic City'' (1952), ''Pony Express'' (1953), ''Secret of the Incas'' (1954), and ''The Private War of Major Benson'' (1955), the latter three with actor Charlton Heston. Cecil Lauriston Kellaway (22 August 1890 – 28 February 1973) was a South African character actor. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor twice, for '' The Luck of the Irish'' (1948) and ''Guess Who's Coming to Dinner'' (1967). Early life Cecil Kellaway was born on 22 August 1890 in Cape Town, South Africa. He was the son of English parents, Rebecca Annie (née Brebner) and Edwin John Kellaway, an architect and engineer.
