The Tip Off
''The Tip Off'' (also written as ''The Tip-Off'') is a 1929 American silent crime drama film directed by Leigh Jason and starring Bill Cody, George Hackathorne and Duane Thompson.Munden p.816 It was shot at Universal Studios, just as the company was producing its last silents amidst the conversion to sound. It was originally registered under the working title ''The Stool Pigeon'', but this was changed possibly due to the similarity to Columbia's '' Stool Pigeon''. In Britain it was released under the alternative title ''Underworld Love''. Synopsis Riley, a crook is on the run from the law with his associated Jimmy Lamar. They shelter with Riley's girlfriend Annie, a fortune teller. She falls for Lamar, who is planning to go straight. Once he discovers this Riley pressures Lamar into a new job, intending to frame him up. However, Annie foresees this in her crystal ball and warns Lamar. Leigh Jason
Leigh Jason (July 26, 1904 – February 19, 1979) was an American film director and screenwriter. He was born in New York, New York, and died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. He married Ruth Harriet Louise in 1927 at Temple B'nai B'rith, with William Wyler as his best man. Louise was the first woman photographer active in Hollywood, and ran Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's portrait studio from 1925 to 1930. They had a son, Leigh Jr., who died of leukemia when he was six years old, and Louise died in 1940, along with their second son, in complications from childbirth. Jack Singleton (actor)
Jack Singleton (born 14 May 1996) is an English professional rugby union player who plays at hooker for Premiership Rugby club Gloucester. Club career Singleton came through the Saracens Academy prior to joining Worcester Warriors in 2014. In October 2016 he made his professional debut for Worcester away in Russia against Enisei-STM in the EPCR Challenge Cup. In what proved to be a markedly good first professional season at Worcester, Singleton made twenty appearances. His Premiership debut came against Northampton Saints in November 2016. Singleton’s good form as a young player, saw him collect a 'Club's Young Player of the Season' award for the 2016–2017 campaign. After five years at Worcester, Singleton returned to Saracens in 2019.
