The Thin Green Line
The Thin Green Line is a documentary film, made by Australian Park Ranger Sean Willmore. In 2004 Willmore travelled the world, across six continents and nineteen countries, interviewing and filming the lives and stories of park rangers, recounting their experiences and difficulties. The film premiered simultaneously in 50 countries on International Rangers Day, 31 July 2007, to an audience of about 15,000 people in 330 locations worldwide, including many of the more remote locations featured in the documentary. Following this event, Californian State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was inspired to declare 31 July California State Park Ranger Day. The Thin Green Line is also the name of the not for profit foundation set up by Sean Willmore in the wake of the documentary's success. Park Ranger
A ranger, park ranger, park warden, or forest ranger is a law enforcement person entrusted with protecting and preserving parklands – national, state, provincial, or local parks. The Thin Blue Line (emblem)
The "thin blue line" is a term that typically refers to the concept of the police as the line which keeps society from descending into violent chaos. The "blue" in "thin blue line" refers to the blue color of the uniforms of many police departments. The phrase originated as an allusion to the British infantry regiment The Thin Red Line during the Crimean War in 1854, wherein the regiment of Scottish Highlanders—wearing red uniforms—famously held off a Russian cavalry charge. Arthur Bryce Courtenay, (14 August 1933 – 22 November 2012) was a South African-Australian advertising director and novelist. He is one of Australia's best-selling authors, notable for his book '' The Power of One''.
