''The Testimony'' (Italian: ''Il testimone'') is 1946 Italian crime film directed by Pietro Germi and starring Roldano Lupi, Marina Berti and Ernesto Almirante. It is one of several films regarded as an antecedent of the later giallo thrillers.Moliterno p.150 The film was made at the Cines Studios in Rome. The sets were designed by the art director Salvo D'Angelo. Pietro Germi
Pietro Germi (; 14 September 1914 – 5 December 1974) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and actor, noted for his development of the neorealist and commedia all'Italiana genres. His 1961 film ''Divorce Italian Style'' earned him a Best Original Screenplay Oscar and a Best Director nomination at the 35th Academy Awards. Seven of his films competed at the Cannes Film Festival, with his 1966 comedy ''The Birds, the Bees and the Italians'' winning the Palme d'Or. Biography He studied acting and directing at Rome's Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. During his time in school, Germi supported himself by working as an extra, bit actor, assistant director, and, on occasion, writer. Giovanni Petrucci (said Gianni; born 19 July 1945, in Rome) is an Italian sports director. He is the current President of CONI for the fourth consecutive term, that will end after the Games of the XXX Olympiad of 2012. His career took place primarily between the Italian Football Federation (where he was special commissioner of the Italian Referees Association) and the Italian Basketball Federation (of which he was elected president in two consecutive occasions), before becoming on 29 January 1999, President of CONI, succeeding Bruno Grandi in the position in 1999.
